Battery polarity is correct?

I don't want to make you worry about something that might not be a problem, but I think the crank and rod bearings are non-ferrous. I would just ride it and keep an ear out for any knocking or rattling type noises.

It does not look normal to me, from what I can see in the video. Do you hear any knocking noises under various conditions?

Looking a the speedo cable, the entire wheel must be on backasswards....but how did it mate with the fork properly? And the speedo cable would be be turning backward?!?

The Harbor Fright cheap model is accurate, but the leads are very flimsy. It costs less than a Vmax tank of gas. I got two of them free with any purchase.

I have to think your battery might be bad. The wiring is probably hot because the battery is drawing an abnormal current. The electrolyte is still boiling and bubbling after your stop the bike.

Stories like yours got me to buy and wear all the gear all the time. 10 years ago I only wore an open face helmet. Now I always wear a full face helmet, gloves, armored jacket, and armored pants. Hope your recovery goes well.

I also like the Clymer much better than the Hayes. For most of my bikes, I have the factory and the Clymer. I have the Hayes for a couple of them, but I rarely look at the Hayes.

They may be data miners. They will try to get your name, e-mail address, phone number, etc....then they sell it to database marketers.

I'm sure you will check the Rectifier Regulator charging voltage if you can start it. The 20V reading on the voltmeter makes me think the R/R was headed for the graveyard. The battery will be dead after the R/R fails, so no surprise if the bike won't run with no battery and no charging power...
