Batterie replacement and coil corosion clean up.

Just curious, I unwrapped my rear wiring by the rear coils, checking all the connections...and I did see this crimp joint with the two red wires...what is the purpose of soldering them? Is there a common issue with this joint having resistance issues?

    1st Gen V-Max 2000 VMAX RESURRECTION

I got the V-boost re--wired back to factory configuration and it works at 6000 rpm like it should...I took apart the carbs and put the 147.5 Mikuni main jets in it, and I put the 37.5 pilot jets back in. I just ordered some OEM style jet block gaskets (K&L kit) because the Chinese rubber ones I...

    Backrest

Personally, I would rather have my woman leaning FORWARD and pressing her B**BS up against my backside and holding on to me tightly....lol

FYI...Just a shared experience...a lady friend of mine on my softball team shattered her ankle, requiring titanium rods and screws, and Air-Medic flight via helicopter to the hospital after she went for a ride with a friend on the back of his Harley...he rear ended a car in front of him at 15mph...

Ahh yes!! The MONOCROSS!!! I had a yellow and black YZ490 in the early eighties...that thing was a BEAST of a two stroke! Sure wish it was water cooled though...it overheated and froze up a few times in the summer and was never the same afterward...and now...to lead us back to the OP...

Yes, of course, it was Yamaha to make the first water cooled fuel injected four cylinder motorcycle...That's why I ride a Vmax!!! lol....or was it....?

PSSSSHT...all those air cooled bikes from the ''70s are not very fast in reality...I would much rather have a cbr600 any day to smoke those old CB750s ...but we are such nostalgic creatures...lol I had a Maxim 550 and a Yamaha Special 850 shaft drive from mid 1980s and even those were slow in...

Backrests are for people with wives....I don't need one! NEVER will I let any woman sit on the back of my Vmax!

2005 VMax not wanting to idle

So this is what happens to the Chinese rubber jet block gaskets when they soak in your carburetors and gasoline for a day....

2005 VMax not wanting to idle

Been working on the bike again today...I'm going to change my opinion about my previous post ..the jet block gaskets in the Chinese carb kit are thicker than the OEM gaskets and they are made of rubber.. I discovered they tend to squeeze out when tightened down and they pinch some of the tiny...

1st Gen V-Max Finally got my VMAX after 25 years.

NIce bike! It looks like my 2000 carbon fiber Vmax I just picked up last year in non-running condition for 1k...I've currently got more than that amount into all the repairs and new parts LOL.....these bikes have original FAUX (FAKE) carbon fiber decals with clear coat spray over them....mine...

    1st Gen V-Max First Summer on a '99 VMAX!

I have a 2000 Vmax, my first summer since I got it running, been commuting to work each day...I have the Holeshot dual exhaust also, and I would suggest open up the carbs, get rid of the stage 1 kit, and replace the main jets with 150 or 147.5 Mikuni jets (not sure where you are located above...

98 VMAX Tach Stopped working, but once in a while kicks in

I was riding my Vmax to work this morning, all of a sudden for no reason the tach stopped working and the idle went bad like it was missing on a couple cylinders...I pulled over, took off the seat and found a loose connection on my spark wire to the left rear coil and some corrosion at the...

    Choke lever wont stay down

Yeah, I've had mine apart a bunch of times, make sure the choke pistons move freely and the forks are attached properly with no bends or binding...also, give that screw a good tightening with a screw driver right near the choke lever.... it should stay in place better so the choke won't let off...

2005 VMax not wanting to idle

I'm no expert, but I'll share my experience with you...I recently bought a non running Vmax, stored for 4-5 years. I had to replace the fuel filter, clean out the clogged fuel pump, and take the carbs apart for cleaning. I bought a carb rebuild kit from ebay, everyone here says they are not...

KNEW NOTHING ABOUT MY VMAX BUT NOW, A YEAR LATER...

YES, there are some AWD turbo Eclipses that will run 9 second 1/4 miles...they will smoke a lot of muscle cars when they are built like that...mine is more of a novelty, 350hp, FWD, and daily driver. Probably a 14 second car. Lots of fun, lots of looks, and lots of maintenance!

    1st Gen V-Max 2000 VMAX RESURRECTION

Nice looking wheel! It's. Similar to my stock wheel design...I'm reading a lot about tires lately...Shinkos, Metzler's, etc...it's one of the next things on my list. Michelin Commander II is probably my favorite choice for now. Any experience with those? Appears to be a well made bias ply...

KNEW NOTHING ABOUT MY VMAX BUT NOW, A YEAR LATER...

Yes it's a fun bike for sure! My friend bought one new in 1988 and it was a bike I always knew about just never owned one before. I'm glad I got a deal and found something I can put some love into...they are so much more meaningful to own when you've done all the work yourself, and the time...
