    Tire change/balance tools

This actually works well as long as you have low drag bearings. Some bearings are too stiff to get an accurate fall of the heavy area. Someone on here found some and puts them on the ends of the shaft that sits on the notched blocks and says they work well.

    stupid question

They may be but my guess is probably not. There is of course a huge variance in opinions on the subject of "breaking in" an engine. My personal opinion is that it's not really necessary especially with the advancements in assembly and materials used today. I have a little experience in building...

    Exhaust shield

That didn't exactly answer my question but I'll answer yours. My tank already had rust in it when I got it. I didn't know about anything at the time that would clean it out and help prevent future rust although afterwards I found something that claimed to do both. A used tank doesn't appeal to...

    Exhaust shield

Since most aftermarket exhaust systems cant use the factory heat shield is there any chance a coated (kreem etc.) gas tank would be affected by the heat? I cant imagine it getting hot enough to do any harm but I wonder about the coating failing due to the extra heat.

    Spark plugs

Lets see if I got this straight. There are resistor and non resistor wires, boots and plugs. The factory installs non resistor wires but uses resistor boots & plugs? As long as one of the three items is resistor (doesn't matter which) the TCI will be happy? If this is true which is the best to...

What mods are you planning for your new Max?

Re: Wgat mods are you planning for your new Max? The one little thing that grabs my attention every time I look at it is the damn turn signals. I can't say why but they just don't look right to me. Other than that I would most likely leave it stock for a few years then once we know how to undo...

    Vmax flexes its muscles

One thing I'm noticing in all the videos/reviews I've seen so far is that 1st gear seems all but useless. The guy was on the limiter almost instantly and stayed there for quite a while. I have to wonder if a higher rear set might actually make for a quicker machine overall considering typical...

    Yamaha and product liability

I cant say whether or not that particular case has had any affect on the development of the new VMax but I do believe the increasing reaction to sue over just about anything certainly has. Companies are having to think about liability alot more than they used to which definately increases R&D...

    engine tick

Isn't the valve lash supposed to be adjusted after a preset number of miles? It's possible you have one thats slightly looser than the others. :confused2:

Wrong Bike at the Wrong Time???

You dont know how much I wanted to get the OP and his supporters together and slap them silly! They ranted like the VMax was the only bike offered so they had no choice but to buy the "gas guzzling eye sore". I'm pretty sure Yamaha makes a street legal scooter for those dingerlings! :biglaugh:

    Clutch rattle

Well I have the ear plugs covered and the new exhaust is being built. :biglaugh: From what I have seen 82nd, most Maxes have a clutch basket ( i assume this is where it comes from) rattle especially in neutral with the clutch disengaged. Someone likened it to an aluminum can with marbles...

    Clutch rattle

Is there anything that can be done to silence the clutch rattle? It's not a big deal but it would be nice if something could be done to muffle it a bit.

They're out there, and they drive!!

Its not there fault the new boat didnt have instructions on how to raise the "trailering gear". :rofl_200:I hope those poor bastards were at least high on something...at least then they would have an excuse.

    2010+ V-max ???

Similer situation here Freddy, I plan on hanging on to the old girl for quite a while to come. I just dropped a small pile of money into it to tide me over until i can afford a new Max. I'm sure they will continue to make them and I plan on waiting a couple more years so that all the early...

Complete carb rebuild guide for noob?

Rebar I just got through completely disassembling, adjusting float levels, cleaning and reassembling my carbs. It was the first time I've had them off the bike and to be honest it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The only things that troubled me a little was the overly tight screws and the...

    Radials for 18" wheels

I actually ordered that one right after I posted here yesterday. Nice bunch of guys at Boxenstopp, although one of them was a little hard to understand with his accent.

    Radials for 18" wheels

Want to thank everyone for all the replies! I ordered the Bridgestone G851/850 Exedras (180/55-18 & 120/70-18). Now I just need to find a fork brace that has a 1" drop that I can stand the looks of. :bang head:

    Radials for 18" wheels

The spacing isnt that bad, I had it imagined much worse. I was thinking of buying a lowered fork brace but dont know how much drop I need. So far all I've seen are 1" drops and not all that good looking imo.
