Are you sure that it leaking around the shaft? The reason I am asking, I thought mine was leaking around the shaft and it turned out to be leaking at the rubber gromets / wires from the stater.

To change and flush the cooling system, the procedure in the book needs to be followed. With an open top oil drain pan to catch the coolant you will get very little on the floor.

With the front wheel secured you could use a scisser jack under the bike just in front of the rear wheel, maybe under the centerstand.

Do a compression check to see what you have

In 3rd gear give it 1/2 to 1/3 throttle through 6500 and you will feel the surge when the vboost opens

The leak is probably around the rubber gromet and the wires going through the gromet, use black rtv worked in around the wires real good and around the gromet

Will be a good idea to get shorter shocks for the rear to lower the front and rear the same

Just unplug the sidestand relay and see what it does, that relay can cause all kind of weird things to happen

I have mine set 3 to 9 and it blinks right on 9000, below 9000 it does read low but that is ok for me as long as the blink is at 9000

Mine engages about the same place as the clutch I took out and does have a stronger pull

My 85 has a leak on the rear coverlike that and when I installed the Morley jet kit, the extra vent reduced the pressure enough that the leak has all but stopped.

After taking another look at the pictures there may be air restricters and could very well be a stage 7 jet kit, if this the case you can get a full header system or go back with the stock air box, jets and needles.

I did not see air restricters in the carbs, in my opinion to get the bike running right would be to get a complete air box and stock needles along with stock jets, could possibly go 1 or 2 sizes smaller on the main jets. I am sure that Sean Morley can help you out.

Pull the faux tank and take pictures of the filters, then pull one filter and take a picture of the top of the carb showing the jets and holes, then pull one slide and remove the needle and take a picture of the needle and post the pictures on here. A stage 7 jet kit may have been installed. If...
