I had a similar problem recently, turned out the connector for the ignition had melted and was connecting the pins together, just had to change out the connector and all was good (I also re soldered the connectors to prevent it from happening again.)

UPDATE: Got the koso filter from digital speedos, wired it all in and it works great! i am going to start typing up a how to and will post it up in the next week or so.

Not yet, still waiting on the filter from Jon, hoping to have it by the weekend and will report back.

Well this is what I have been working on the past while, it's mounted with cardboard right now just to get my measurements but you get the idea. I'm going to be mounting a small led for fuel and push button for my halo headlight in between the gauges but I haven't received them in the mail yet.

Ok, im going to drop the price down to $250, thats pretty much the price of the gauge and shift light without the custom bracket.

I would prefer to sell together because the bracket was custom made for the gauge and light.

Well I need to fund more mods on the bike and since I am switching to a koso gauge I figured this isn't needed anymore, it's a cycle one off setup that includes a oil pressure gauge painted red with a red line (there is some scratches in the paint) a red raptor shift light and a custom bracket...

Well got all the connectors installed, it actually looks pretty good, i abandoned the idea of using the fuel adapter that came with the gauge and just wired the input into the engine light wire, now when i have low fuel the engine light will come on, when i do my custom cluster i might move this...
