    Bad pickup coil?

Yeah I spent the better part of yesterday going back and forth between the wiring diagram and the bike checking every connection in the ignition system. Found no faults.

    Bad pickup coil?

I believe it was off of a ‘92. However it had been sitting for quite a while.

    Bad pickup coil?

If you’re referring to the cdi box wiring then yes. Seemingly no shorts or breaks in that whole harness.

    Bad pickup coil?

Back again. Been out of town for work for the past 3 weeks so I’ve just been able to start tinkering with it again. Still stumped. I borrowed a cdi box from a buddies parts vmax, still no spark. So far I’ve verified that the pick up coil, ignition coils, spark plugs, battery and I think...

    Bad pickup coil?

Just for gits and shiggles I decided to check the pickup coil’s ohms, I’m reading right at 100. Is this within spec?

    Bad pickup coil?

Sorry for the delay. I got the replacement sub harness in for the left hand control switches. Plugged them in, still nothing. Also a little off topic but my turn signals are now blinking oddly. If I flip the left signals on, the front right signal blinks along with the rear left, and vise versa...

    Bad pickup coil?

Sounds good. I’ll get to it tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks much!!

    Bad pickup coil?

Just a wild theory, I don’t currently have the left side controls, (turn signals, horn, etc) could that possibly have anything to do with this? I pulled the whole harness for the left hand controls because the wires were stripped clean off the ends after the wreck.

    Bad pickup coil?

That’s the relay on the right correct?
  10. K

    Bad pickup coil?

There’s an unmarked relay in the spot previously mentioned spot so I’m assuming that’s what it is. From what I can gather, 1990-on did have side stand relays. I’m having a couple drinks myself so I don’t go insane trying to figure all of this out 🤣

    Bad pickup coil?

I’ll check it but it was my understanding that if the side stand switch were bad that the bike wouldn’t even crank at all. I could be wrong but we’ll see here in a minute.

    Bad pickup coil?

You have to just replace meaning it won’t run without it I’m assuming?
  13. K

    Bad pickup coil?

I hadn’t considered that. Where is the side stand relay located? I’ve been cranking it in neutral, clutch both in and out, side stand down and up.

    Bad pickup coil?

I’ll start off by saying that I dropped my 90’ vmax about a month and a half ago. Big patch of loose grass going through a corner. Bummer. Dropped and slid on the kickstand side. Mostly cosmetic damage apart from the engine cover which I replaced. Just one problem, she won’t start. Cranks all...

    Oil leak from carburetors?

Yeah I’m struggling with right now, ripped the hose a bit on the side, seems impossible to get it back on..

    Oil leak from carburetors?

I just went ahead and removed the whole air box, is there supposed to be a clamp on the hose? If not that may have been my issue.

    Oil leak from carburetors?

Where does the oil hose connect to the air box?

    Oil leak from carburetors?

Just got home from a ride and noticed oil running down the left side of my motor down to the kickstand. Investigated further and it somehow seems to be coming from somewhere on the back side of the carburetors. It’s a pretty good amount of leakage as well. Hope these pictures help.

Deciding which rear shocks to go with

So the shocks came in the mail today, as I was about to install the new shocks, I noticed the mounting studs on the bike are too big for the bushings on the shocks. In the interest of saving time, I’m wondering if I could maybe use the bushings from my stock shocks on the new ones, they don’t...

Deciding which rear shocks to go with

I had a few drinks last night and I ordered a pair of progressive 444’s. Went with the 12 inch heavy duty’s just to be safe. Hopefully they make a pretty good difference!
