couple of cool old bike ads

My buddy is restoring a V65. I keep telling him we are going to RUN when he gets finished to see who is King, Yammy or Honda. :biglaugh: The last one to Quaker Steak in buying the wings...

    What would YOU recommend?

What about a larger PAJ2 jet ? It's easier to access - it's right under the diaphragm covers on the side. It's an air jet, so you want to go larger to lean out the mixture. Sean has posted that he's had good luck tuning with that jet as it covers a broader spectrum than a main jet does ( off...

    BCS Game Tonight

I stayed up to watch this game & MAN am I paying for it this am ! I need to put a creeper down under a truck & get some zzzz's. LOL Great game - much closer than I expected. Not a huge blow-out by the SEC, but a win anyway. I'm a Gators fan, but today I'm sayin' GO AUBURN !!!:punk:

January Mod Monkey of the Month contest

Here's my latest mod - I painted the motor. I used gloss black Dupli-Color ceramic engine enamel. I prepped it with de-greaser, wire brushed all the paint flakes off, then scrubbed it with brake kleen. For the fins, I sanded them down finer & finer & I'm just leaving them polished - no more...

    I'm cold

I remember riding in snow flurries in 1981 with an open face helmet & no windshield. My eyes still water just thinking about that...

    1988 VMAX Rear Suspension Question.

Welcome! I never found the right size spanner to adjust my pre-load, so I just use a #1 Phillips screwdriver. I like setting #3 for me & the rare occasion when the wife goes for a ride with me, but I imagine #5 would never bottom out even with the healthiest passenger.

A Gen1 VMax ringtone for you

GOT IT ! I guess my computer is too old. I downloaded the ringtone onto my Wife's newer laptop & then synced it to my Droid with a USB cable. I downloaded a free app called "Ringdroid" and then the install was simple.

    Mysterious rusty bolt

One more thing I forgot - all fasteners should be soaked in Seafoam for 20 minutes before installation. This prevents rust, adds HP, & increases your cruising range to 200 miles before the light comes on...

How many of you guys bought the temp switch rather than install a manual fan switch?

Re: How many of you guys bought the temp switch rather than install a manual fan swit I've been running a Borg Warner TFS545 fan switch & a Stant #13758 180 degree thermostat for approx. 2 years now here in west central FL. No probs whatsoever. My bike runs just below the "dot".

    Mysterious rusty bolt

Add an extra ground from battery NEG to frame. I used an over-sized braided ground strap. IMHO the factory battery-to-frame ground is in-sufficient. Others will dis-agree. Just my .02...

    Non-bike Electrical Question

This is not an electrical answer, but maybe a solution for your problem. My Mother's house in western New York was prone to mass flooding AND power outages at the same time. The local solution there is to install sump pumps that are operated by water pressure from the city. No electric, no...
