I did take my gen 1 up to 135 once. It had more left but I didn't.

Metzler ME 888 Marathon 170/80/B15

First of all if you have original wheels try the upsize rear tire. I did that and it made a noticeable improvement on the interstate.

I can't speak of the gen2 but I have always had good luck out of the Metzler 880 Marathon on my gen 1. Now I have the new 888 Metzler on it front and back. Seems to be doing well but I only have about 1,000 miles on it.

I really like the sound of my SuperTrapps.

My 95 did it and the Progressive springs solved it. I also had the same problem with my 88 Yamaha Venture Royale that I once had. It helped on my Venture back then so I tried it on my Vmax and was also successful. But I do tip the scales at 220lb.

A simple swap of the stock front springs to Progressive,problem solved.

I agree totally. But it is so firm that you wouldn't think it would be as comfortable as it is. Good for the taller ones since it is wider than the stock seat. But for a ride over 100 miles it is so much better than OEM.

I have had good luck with the Metzlers. I usually get about 6-7000 miles on the rear and usually around 15,000 on the front.

Not familiar with the Gen2 but with my gen 1 I have good luck out of the Metzlers 888. I can get around 7,000 on a rear and 15.000 out of the front.

Yes,I agree. The fist gen does need a 6th gear for cruising. Really needed it even worse on the interstate. I did up my rear tire size on my stock wheel and that did seem to help some at highway speeds. It lowered my RPM some.

That's what I like about Supertrapps. They are adjustable. I have 6 discs in mine to satisfy my taste.

Progressive fork springs took care of my death wobble.

So sorry about ue situation. I wish you luck. I got a situation also that's got me thinking about selling mine. Last fall I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Things are progressing and I don't believe I am going to be able to ride anymore. I has a 95 with 36xxx on it that looks like a new one...

I remember when I got my 95 that i was reluctant to open it up in first gear for a good while.

The Vmax should run with or outrun the Rocket.

Just curious .Has anyone ever tried to get one of these to work in a gen 1 and what the outcome was?

I am in my mid 50's myself and considering slowing down a bit and letting go of the Vmax and maybe get a Gold Wing.
