I guess they used to be Z rated in the rear but now H rated. So, I guess that leaves the Battleax and the Shinko left. I ride this bike all year round, daily, 20 minute commutes and I don't push it hard often. I just want to feel more confident and stable in the turns and colder roads. My current Battleax are worn to the indicators on the rear. I bought the bike used and the tires were already worn. Should I get the Battleax or the Shinko. I keep hearing negative reviews about the Shinko. Cost is not a factor for me for safety and performance. Thank you

I currently have a shinko verge on the rear and the Bridgestone on the front. I have no complaints and have never felt uneasy in the corners. I have about 4K on this setup and they are wearing nicely.

I can’t recommend the shinko front tire since I was in the group with the people that had front end shake from it.

I've put three Shinko rears and two fronts on my gen2 since getting it (representing around 15k miles worth of wear) and **knock wood** haven't had any issues with them. Although I don't ride in the cold of winter as frequently as I once did, I haven't had any problems with traction or confidence regardless of what the weather or riding conditions have been. I ride pretty fast for the most part, and the Shinkos have always done what I've needed them to do. I am considering a set of Battlax's but wish Continental or Pirelli had something available as I've read about just as many issues with the Bridgestone's and Metzeler's as with Shinko's.

Is anyone running, or has anyone tried running, Dunlop Elite 3 tires on their gen2?

I have 58K miles(93K km) on my bike. I dont think there are many here that have ridden their Gen 2 that far and battled with tires. I have stated before my experiences with tires. I have ran Dunlops on my bike. They are a very sticky fast wearing tire. I do not spin tires, I do not race them though I do ride fast. They lasted about 4000 miles and Dunlop fronts are a dual compound front leaving a 'W' pattern wear pattern.

I can't speak of the gen2 but I have always had good luck out of the Metzler 880 Marathon on my gen 1. Now I have the new 888 Metzler on it front and back. Seems to be doing well but I only have about 1,000 miles on it.

Different topic: My 2009 Vmax has two sets of passenger pegs/foot rests on each side. They appear to be OEM. Is that normal? Thanks.

Someone installed an aftermarket set of lower pegs near the mufflers for passenger comfort. They left the higher stock ones too.
