Can somebody please help and explain how to remove the airbox. When I started it gas was shooting out of the tube under my airbox onto the motor I think it's a stuck float.
Thanks
I an trying to get the air box off my bike todothe air box mod, but am having trouble getting the instrument cluster out of the way I have both plugs unplugged from the cluster, it seems like it is still connected to the metal plate coming off of the ignition switch. Am I missing something?
Anyone have the dimensions for the stock Vmax airbox?
IE: length, width height?
I'm planning to install one on a Venture and need to get an idea of how far forward I need to shift the venture battery in the frame to clear the airbox. The vmax box is shorter than the venture's, but it also...
I hope this is a fitting place for this thread I didnt see a airbox or airfilter area. So... I am doing a deep clean on my 85 while I diagnose and replace "smaller issues" that I find. When pulling my stock airbox the whole thing just lifted off the card tops. Which was rather convenient...

Since a couple of weeks I noticed my max is consuming some oil. It didn't used any before.... but age... wear.... you get my point. No biggy.
It seams to sweat minimal around the valve covers... winter project.
But I also noticed some oil in the Airfilter box?
What...
First Dyno on this bike. I was curious as to why the HP was actually a bit less with the Tboost set at 3000 rpm than it was with it set at 6000 rpm across the board? Someone has the logical answer but fill me in if you could enlighten me.
Also I was told that the main jets may be a little large...
Anyone want to swap a stock airbox lid for a Muscle Jet Kit lid?
Still in the process of putting stuff back to stock. Let me know. If we ship at the same time, it shouldn't be more than two days without a lid.
Per Sean,
I dug out the Y section for the airbox and put in 1/4" spacers. Guess what?
It runs BETTER!
Before I converted to COPs, the bike would want to die at idle when it got hot, so I bumped the idle to 1250. (figured it was the carbs not being synced - hadn't gotten the sync tool...
Can anyone confirm that your fuel filler cap looks like this?
Or could you post a bunch of pics? I have the tank, but no cap.
Thanks, guys.

Bike is stock 2006. Started getting a pretty strong fuel smell out of the airbox. Openned it up and everything looks OK. Checked around and no visible leaks. Bike starts/runs great, but people are asking me if it has a fuel leak - you can smell it that strongly. All coming out of the airbox...
OK. So relatively new here and new to carbs. I am doing the shotgun method because my vmax has started popping and backfiring on light throttle and deceleration. I bought bike used and the dealer said they cleaned the tank and carbs. The tank does appear to be rust free from what I can see. When...
Bike stalled today, has done it a few times. It happens in traffic at idle. The bike has had a popping sound I believe is from the carbs as soon as you bring the rpms up a touch. Bike restarts and when on the throttle or just cruising runs flawlessly. Im pulling it apart this weekend. Any ideas...
So I got my used airbox with k&n filter (previous owner removed it and installed chinese crappy pods) . The bike is currently running rich. I want to reinstall the stock airbox and was wondering whether there is an easy way to do that. Any suggestions?
I have been thinking that since the "Y" on top of My bike's air-box is not there (P.O. took it off). It would have made a great place to attach/fabricate cold air ducting to connect the intake system to the sides of the bike for cooler air. I remember in the distant past a Kawasaki that came out...
