I took my 2000 Max out for the first time today. I've never ridden one of these beasts before and I'm amazed at how much power it has! It kicks ass! The only problem I have is that when I'm doing over 40mph and take 1 hand off of the bars they start to shake back and forth. My Nighthawk...

    steering head bearing removal

Hello After the better part of a day I finally got the upper bearing races removed. The lower races, however, look even more stubborn. There is no lip at all to drive it out with a long screwdriver from above. One suggestion was to weld a bead directly onto it and use that to drive it out...

Brake Rotor Bolts - stripped the hex head

My maxes bolts are rusted so I ordered new ones from the dealership. I borrowed my buddies impact wrench and got all but 3 bolts off. I stripped them. I'm thinking I should use a metal drill bit and drill out the center of the bolts and then use a needle nose plyer to grab the remaining bolt...

ALMOST A FREAKING TANK SLAPPER! Very helpless feeling when you are at 110 and she starts the death wobble! :bang head: She was rock solid up until the magic number (so rock solid that I got too comfortable) and then it got violent. That was the result of tightening the steering head up...

    Steering Head

So I got around to tightening the steering head bearings. Got it all down to using the hammer and screwdriver, as I didn't want to do nothing to extreme, just seeing how that would help. It worked well, was lightly tapping on it, tightening it up, using the bounce method. However I came to a...

A bit of a head scratcher

The bike has been running rough after a rejet and a bowl level adjustment so we tried to do a sync. Upon putting that morgan carbtune on it we notices no vacuum reading out of carb # 2. You had to goose it to 3K to get it to read anything. We cracked the airbox and noticed that the diaphram was...
