Vmax came out of storage, and is running a bit rough.
Trouble maintaining idle, no issues with acceleration. Intermittently couching as well.
Was stored with seafood in the tank.
Any ideas?

So I've been trying to fix my '88 Vmax for the last month and still can't fix this issue with the fuel pump. It started out when I took a small fall at ~10 MPH and it seemed to move around the diaphragms in the pump which led to a loud clicking sound from the pump. So I then took apart the pump...
So I have been having issues with my 88 Vmax's fuel pump where before it would cut out when I gave it any throttle and now it doesn't even turn over. I have tried a different fuel pump to the same results AKA not running. It appears to me I am missing both of my little rubber diaphragms inside...
Right about now I'm feeling like a genius and wanted to share my discovery. I've started to restore the '85 that I purchased new in my youth. Been wanting to replace the gouged up cover for years and finally starting searching the 'bay for one. What they're asking for one in mediocre shape seems...
First off let me apologize, I know there has got to be a thread on here that will answer my question but for some reason my phone will not allow me to select the search option on here. Anyways, I have a 2006 Vmax and I've noticed a small coolant leak coming from the weap hole on the water pump...
Does anyone have a spare cover they care to sell? For some reason the center of the cover rattles like crazy and it's kinda pissing me off a little lol

Hello all

The issue with the fuel pump on my 85– its seems to have no fuel from the pump when the bike is with a full tank of fuel
I tried to read other posts but its won’t help
I can tell that:
I checked the Fuel pump...
I need to know if the cooling system "joint" pictured below is threaded into the other parts. Mine is leaking (but bandaged) and I will be ordering the joint and the o-rings. When I pull it apart, I need to know if there are any other gaskets I need to worry about, or can I just simply replace...
Hello,
I have been looking through the forums for a while now trying to find a fix for my fuel pump.
I bought a new pump, thinking my old one went bad, but it was not the issue.
Whenever I turn the ignition on, i can hear the (vboost?) working, but the usually ticking of the pump had...
We've had a week or so of 100 degree weather. I ride EVERY DAY in Los Angeles to and from work (for the past 22 years) but I especially noticed the bike running hotter than usual a few late afternoons last week, and some overflow from the down-tube of the coolant reservoir dripping beneath the...
I have a 85 vmax and it has been sitting for 2 years. i pulled off the carbs and cleaned them and then i noticed alot of water in the fuel tank. i removed that and then when i turned the key on to see if the fuel pump was working it spit out water and rust. i kept turning off and on until the...

the other day i ended up on side of the road. Bikes been running superbly then bamm was like i ran out of gas. I suspected the fuel pump. Bike started and limped home but only with alittle coke applied to keep from dying. I took pump off and ran it with hoses disconnected and im getting...
Hiya all;
Wondering...
I replaced the water pump seal and gaskets on my 06 last year. I used ALL new OEM gaskets seals etc.
When I first cracked the case with the 9 or so bolts for the first time, I noticed that from the factory, Yamaha had applied a thin bead of black silicone from the...
The three bolts that hold the retaining ring.....I had to use a chisel ended punch to get them lose...so can i just use normal contersunk bolts ? There's no pressure on them...I'm guessing off the shelf from a bolt stockists.
I have some noise coming from my water pump by the sounds of it. I put and auto scope on it and many other areas of the engine and seems very prominent in the pump area. I wanted to know before I pull it off the bike and start digging if any of the fellow forum vmax owners have encountered or...
