Hi everyone, finally got myself a Vmax after wanting one forever. :eusa_dance: I bought myself an 85 because it was the first year, and this one is really clean, and I got it for a good price.
When buying it I knew that 2nd gear was dropping back into neutral, and figured I could fix it...
Is there anyone out there that can give me some information on a gear problem. I have a 1993 V max that keeps jumping out of 1st gear and into neutral. This happens most time I take off. Does anyone know what the problem is and what it might take to fix it?
..just thought I would share this...I have been getting my spare parts from a 96 donor.. I needed the shift drum/forks (gouge in the drum) and the Middle Trans (bad first wheel/gear).... So I just got all trans parts..
Was going to keep all 96 parts together = but discovered the 96 trans shaft...
...Found another issue..?
Here's a pic of the shift drum... Only one spot I found to be mucked up...
What do you think?.. Can I clean it up or should I just get a replacement?
Also... - any good info on the second gear issue and proper shimming..etc..?
I have to replace the bearings on...
My trans is locked up and I am going to have to split the case to repair it. Can I just go in frm the bottom of the engine or do I need to do a major dissasembly Pistons rods ect? Im hoping I have a broken fork.
:ummm:
I'm trying to fix a 3rd gear problem.I've got the engine out and upside down.I took all the covers off and removed all the bolts, but there still seems to be some holding the case together in the area of the clutch. This is the first time I've done this so I don't want to pry on it and...
I thought I would post this just for interests sake, kinda off topic as these aren't Max gears but are basically similar. They are out of a racing Triumph and I just wanted to show the procedure in making them in detail as to give some insight as to what is involved and what to be aware of if...
Bike is some times hard to downshift and takes alot of lever effort to get it upshifted. It is a 2005 so I didnt know if I should check the assembly with the pins. My dad did lay it down going into a driveway that twisted my shift lever all up. I just dont know where to start. I went through...
