1998 vmax vin numbers

hello there i have a 98 max with frame number 2WE070397 the plate is missing with the rest on which would be JYA????? , just thought if someone had one close i might be able to fill in the gaps,it looks like an import from the usa ,many thanks john

Mine is a 1990 model but this web site was very helpful for me on understanding the total VIN. Maybe this can help fill in the blanks for you.

California models have JH first 2 numbers-if you have a vacuum plug on the carbs or cannister for emissions that's a sure sign.

The serial # should be stamped in the neck under the sticker.

my 85 is californian but the 98 as no carbs or cannister,thanks john

it would be cool with a v8 but trying to keep it standard /ish but its hard with spares getting very rare

I'll send the #'s to Yamaha and see what they say.
I have in the same place as your numbers stamped on the frame a 2 and that is all.

i have sent email to yamaha but it says 10 days+ to get a reply
