I have heard conflicting stories. Some say Vmax carbies prior to '92 were 34mm and the latter are 35mm and others say they have always been 35mm.
I know the Ventures are 34mm.

Is this true?
Thanx,

AFAIK all years '85-'07 have the exact same carbs. There may have been slight changes in main jet sizes but that's it.

I can't confirm but everything I've read has said the carbs are all the same. That being said, I have read somewhere that the vboost butterflies in the 85's (maybe 86's too?) were a different size as was the exhaust or at least the baffle in the mufflers. Not sure if there is any truth to that but I know I've read it somewhere.

The carbs are the same. The 85's have the smaller Vboost butterflies and 1 less baffle in the exhaust. When Yamaha added the extra baffle they increased the size of the Vboost butterflies to maintain performance. A pristine set of 85 exhaust cans do add hp to a late model, or at least that is what I have been told by some oldtimers:worthy:
