The Star Rider seat looks good, and maybe I can just change the front section - although I suspect that fade will cause some appearance difference, which I then might have to address later. I guess that gives me two seating options. I think I will start with the front progressive springs (stock length/height), and a lower seat, and evaluate from there. I'm not likely a good/aggressive enough rider to notice a lot of the things that you all comment on.

He says he will use parts that I order and bring in (except tires). If he hasn't already ordered the carb, brake, and fork parts yet is there a good place to get all the parts from (OEM or better) for much less than the listed prices, especially if there are kits that have everything in there for the various components? Maybe I can order and have them shipped right to him.

Finally got my bike back after 7 weeks in the shop. Seems to run pretty smooth. Got out the door for a smidge under estimate even after adding the progressive springs and it needing more carb parts than anticipated.

By the time I got it home it did not want to idle steady and died, but I upped the idle a little and it seems better. It was set to 1,000-1,050. I have never felt like it ran well at 1,000 rpm and always tried to set it at 1,200 or so.

It has been so long since the bike ran right or close to right that it felt really jumpy in 1st - when trying to go slow in slow traffic. I took that as a good sign.

Ran good and smooth at 120-ish - no wobble.

If you can be patient then Ben at Plover Motorsports seems like a good option for this area. I will update if I have issues like losing tune fast or whatever.

I didn't check those prices against another supplier, but from reading the list, they sound reasonable, nothing made me think, "Whaaat?"

If the bike is running OK and you can goose it up to 120 MPH and everything seems OK, it sounds like they were doing the job you paid-for. How is roll-on? If you can get good response from each gear from about 4K rpm, that's a good sign. The bike should be handling well with the suspension work.

I will have to play with 4k roll-on more. It has been 6-7 years since I rode it while it was working moderately well. I do remember thinking that top gear roll-on from about 70 or 80 up was not overly impressive until the v-boost kicked in. This could be my perception as opposed to actual under-performance with non V-boost roll-on.

0 PSI pre-load with the progressive springs, right (https://www.vmaxforum.net/threads/front-fork-air-pressure.39530/)?

Oh yeah, almost forgot the mechanic mentioned that (I'm trying to relate this without knowing exactly what he was talking about) - the float bowl vents had been forwards and backwards on my bike and that he put them all facing forward. He said that they are supposed to be facing to the rear, but that it won't affect anything. Is that correct?

They are all supposed to point backwards.

So long as they are hosed properly I don't see what the harm would be of having them face a different direction other than maybe having to change the length of the hoses.
