So sorry to hear about your dad, Greg. I had noticed you hadn't been on much lately and was wondering what might be up. Be strong brotha.

Shoot me an email. I have something cool I would like ti do for you and your dad. [email protected]
Todd

I thought that Todd's gesture was so kind that I felt obliged to not insult him and spent a week or so before Dad's funeral trying to figure out how to take him up on his offer. It wasn't until the actual day that I figured it out...

It wasn't Taps that broke me, but rather the rifle team's volleying of rounds that did me in. My cousin had to hold me up. After the ceremony, I scoured the grounds, and managed to find six of the nine empty casings that Dad's honor guard discharged from their rifles during his internment. As a Christmas gift for Mom, I polished up three of them and mounted them in a shadow box similar to this.

I sent Todd the remaining three and asked him to engrave them with the nickname Dad picked up while he worked the naval shipyards in Subic Bay back in '69. I'm gonna get them mounted in displays and gift them to my sibilings

THANKS TODD!!! THEY CAME OUT GREAT!

I appreciate you sharing all this Greg. My Pops passed two years ago and like you, certain things get to you. I hope I get to see you on Tech Day. Thinking of you brother.
Patrick.
