A little backfire when cold

Started up the Max the other morning and I noticed it was backfiring a little with the choke on and I saw small flames inside my 4into one exhaust.Has this happened to anyone else here?.It goes away as soon as the bike warms up.:confused2:

I get that too when I put a bit of choke and when cold.

Mine sounds like that also I feather the choke back just enuff to keep motor up on rpm's .

It could be because the bike is running a bit rich with the choke on.

I had this problem for years!, vary bothersom, suggestion get can of carb cleaner, remove box, rev engine and inject carb cleaner into every passage!, next I use chevrone techtron 2, I beleive that's it and put in about 1/4th bottle for 4 tank's gas, finally if you have access/drilled out your air adjustments screws you may try to richen or lean them up, mine were excessively lean!!!, since I have done these 3 things have not had a backfire or pop when starting for 2,500miles, and running better than the day I brought it home! good luck hope this helps Dan Dkwco
