Yeah thats why I am teetering on the black scoops. But my other thought is everyone has chrome and shiny scoops. I want it to be different than everyone elses. Right now as I look at the picture, I see what too much silver still..... dumb nuts and bolts, shocks, and a few odds and ends.

Who are you trying to be different than? Ppl on the forums? We've pretty much seen every rendition of possible combination of ideas, color scenes, and bodywork these bikes are capable of sporting. Are there a glut of vmaxes in your neck of the woods that you find yourself trying to put the key in someone else's ride? Im guessing not, particularly with that wrap. (Is it a wrap or hydro paint job? Im leaning hydro but i like it regardless.)

No, go with what complements and completes your style. Thats why you went with a vmax right? Imean there are faster and more 'prestigious' and more comfortable bikes but there is something plain rude about the vmax. While i do understand the driveto compete inthe arena of producing the 'perfect' interpreted vision of a vmax, unless you are intentionally aiming for something different, its really just you as a vmax. Are you flashy all around, or are you a track suit with gold watch kinda guy? Understated elegance, or just intentionally understated?

My vote, given what seen of your bike and what l have picked up of your personality given your posts, i think the black chrome would look fantastic and make you happy. It really pops out in direct sunlight witjh a little something extra, but always looks good, like a deep black under the streetlamps.

I sent my scoops away to be powdercoated. They will be a deeper red, to match the 07 flames on the tank. I will post pics when I get home.

Black chrome is cool. At a price though. Todd if you want to dump the money black chrome would the best but you can do your own powder and with some nice shiny end inserts it would look almost as good for alot less money. You can always get the black chrome later. So get the scoops done and lets ride to thunder

Brian redbone is a nice looking bike. You did nice job bro.

I know the Vmax has been so overdone its sad. So I guess with saying that I don't want it to look everyone elses, I am going with the vast majority, which would be chrome scoops or shiny scoops. If you lined up 10 Vmax's that are tricked out, most would have shiny scoops.

If it were me I'd do black chrome or real chrome, bike is too nice for anything less in my opinion... I know you wanna be different and so did I but I also wanted certain aspects of the bike to "pop" so I went with chrome and don't regret it for a second... I'm not a huge fan of the murdered out look on a Vmax, it hides too much of the bikes beautiful lines.. Just my opinion, take it for what its worth bud :)

Yeah I am not 100% sure I would want black because I think they are a real focal point of what a Vmax is. But really shiny black may really set them off as well. I am thinking if I did my current black and than did a gloss cleaer over that, that it would look really deep and wet.

Whats the worst I can do..... do them black and then one of you guys has to trade me your stock set for them ;)

doing the wrap would be no problem for me to do! It's the Yamaha logo that I fear would f--- up the job

We've just got in a new wrap material that is a 3M double back CF simulation. Looks very good. I could send you a small sample.

Where u gt the caroming done/rough cost in price???
I got it from Sean but they were a used set, so not perfect but I wanted to see how it looked against the rest of the bike. I really like the nice shine and no polishing! Sean charges me $200 on exchange with my polished scoops.

Thanks Mike, don't look too close though!:biglaugh:

Yep, they're in the tail light. Fronts are minis with bulbs instead of led. They do flash a little quicker than stock, but not much and I dont care. Self cancel still works too.
