today something kinda funny happened. I am sitting in traffic when a city bus pulls up next to me, stops and compliments my Max. He actually stopped during his route, I was pretty happy. I told him the bike was 15 years old and he said he was impressed at how nice she still looked. I've recd compliments from the normal folks but specifically the man's man. Garbagemen cant say enough!!! This I find a big ol compliment cause as you know, we're not talking about wusses.

My year riding my sportster I recieved a total of 1 compliment from a stranger. I was in a parking lot about to rush off feeling manly after my 1250cc conversion and a woman pulls up telling me "I had one the exact same color!" That really sucked.

I miss the 2 easy cylinders to troubleshoot and the 1 carb and dont forget the 100lbs less but I'm sooo glad I got my vmax.

I have a damn fan club here in my town.I hear a lot about talk in the bars about my bike too.Mostly Harley guys.

I work at a Casino, and a lot of the break room chat is about everyone's cars and the upgrades to make em' go fast.

Everyone at work has heard me fire up, or roll my Vmax into the lot.

When I walk in the break room everybody just shuts the hell up when bragging how fast there vehicles can go???:confused2::worthy:

I haven't had mine together very long but the bike nights tend to bring them around... One guy looked at it and said... You have A LOT of money in that don't you? My response was "way too much" :bang head:

We all like the compliments as it makes what we do more worth while. I like my bike and appreciate when people compliment it, but really all that matters is what I think of it.:thumbs up:

I get a lot of "Is that the new model?" followed by "Do they still make those?"

Another good one is "How long did it take you to build it?" to which I reply "What makes you think that I am done?"

I was going to get an FJR 1300, but just reinvested the down payment money into the Max.

One day I was out riding with a bunch of cruizers (normally not my style). Harleys, Vulcans, you know, the slow crowd. We stopped for fuel because I was low (again).
While filling up, a guy rolls in on his 'busa, walks past all the fancy chrome and tassles, and proceeds to tell me how much he liked the Vmax, and asked all kinds of questions for about fifteen minutes.
We parted ways, but we run into each other every so often.

Jermain Taylor has all kinds of toys but he took interest in my Max? That's just friggin' cool!

He still won't let me drive his Lamborghini :confused2:

Thats just one of the many reasons why I own and ride muscle bikes. Most of the pop culture "biker" crowd just don't get it:confused2: I own a 1987 Honda Super Magna and occasionally I hook up with owners of 20+grand custom HD's and choppers on poker runs and bike nights. Many times what turns out to be friendly time and lets ride together again sometime, usually goes bad simply because my ol Honda V4 gets all the looks and compliments when we do hook up. The bad part is they don't wanna ride with me again because of just that. And the fact that my little 700cc will still smoke em stop light to stop light.:rocket bike:

I LOVE my max but I also enjoy the compliments too!
Feels good to see someone nudge his friend and say...."HEY, CHECK IT OUT! A VMAX!!!!"
You never hear that with crotch rockets or harleys unless they are all decked out!
Theres 2 kinds of bikes that REALLY turn heads....choppers and the mighty max!

If I spot a super mag, I'm gonna stop and look!
I came across a guy with a Madura at the toys ride, and it freaked him out that I knew what it was. Gotta love a V4!

Absolutely! I check out all the old school V4's when I see one. The old "real" Sabre's, Madura's, Magna's, Intercepter's, of course the Max and even the inline Kaw ZL900 Eliminator's. Unfortunately most are not enthusiests and are just happy to have a bike to ride:whistlin: Here is a pic of my Super. Brought it back from the grave on an original purchase of $325.00

Happy Holidays,
Clay

No No No... You need to post up the pic of it in your truck or trailer... Can't remember which... The one when you picked it up.:surprise:

Oh' you mean this one Chris? The 83 V65 in the back is what I bought for $800 and sold for $3,200 last August to help pay in full cash for my 07 Vmax. The V65 Magna is a fun fast bike and I learned a lot about them. I sold it mainly because it had issues that would have cost me a few grand to make it cherry. Besides, I always had a hard-on for a Vmax! Before and after pics and still a work in progress.:thumbs up:

What a great age of motorcycles!

V65's, Elminators, Super Mags, Maxim X, Vmax... There was so much great stuff to come out of that era.

Someone needs to talk Kawasaki into a ZX14 powered cruiser. The groundwork is already there!

BTW, great work on that $325 hunk of junk. None of those should go to the bone yard, ever.:thumbs up:

Thanks man:thumbs up:

Hell yeah! Back then it was serious engineering and total competition on who could make the baddest and coolest motorcycle. Too bad those days are gone and now all we have are HD wannabees and full blown sport bikes that are uncomfortable and fugly. I agree with the ZX14 and still can't understand why Yamaha didn't put a Vmax motor in the Warrior? Oh well,,,,like many things these days, we can only hope someday it will come full circle and we can enjoy new bikes that are timeless again:punk:

Keep the Faith,
Clay

Very nice job! I never saw one of those on the street.

Kinda why I like the 86-87 Yamaha Fazers and Maxim X's.

Thanks Shawn. I appreciate the comp!

Happy Holidays to you & yours.

Same to you! I'd hang on to that bike forever.Like your vmax.
I have one fazer that my wife rides and one in about the shape of your magna when you got it.I really enjoy doing frame up resto's.My problem is the waiting list is getting too long.Next I am building a big bore for my vmax. Then I'd like to build a new dragbike,street-strip 72 H2 then the other fazer.I already have a spare motor for each.

Excellent! Fazers are rare and hard to find. Hang on to them! One things for sure, you sure never see them on the road. I bought a Kaw 73 Z1 900 2 years ago for $500 that ran alright but needed a lot of TLC. I sold it a week later for $2000. I made some quick cash, but now wished I had it back:bang head:
