Anyone used the UFO 1.5" caps OR how to reduce ear bleeding from the StreetPro?

As mentioned previously, the StreetPro would probably be a lot quieter if it had a smaller core with more packing around it. (I haven't pulled my mufflers apart yet to see what kind of packing is inside them--hopefully tonight.) I Googled for "perforated cylinder motorcycle exhaust" and found this site, which sells them in several sizes:
http://www.lachoppers.com/catalog/display/1136/index.html

They also sell packing:

The different baffling combined with the UFO 1.5" end caps (priced at a mind-boggling $65 each) ought to do the trick:
http://planetvmax.com/85-07vmax/exhaust/#!/UFO-SBD-End-Cap/p/15381324/category=3613423

The description for the caps says "Made from billet aluminum, these end caps reduce the opening from the standard 2.5″ found on all of our megaphone exhaust to 1.5″ and they will work with both our 2” or 2.5” baffle cores."

So apparently UFO offers 2" baffle cores, but I don't see them anywhere on the site. That would hopefully eliminate the guesswork with getting the baffles from the LAChoppers site, but given what the end caps cost, I fear the baffles will be mucho dinero too. That said, if I can get my Vmax's noise down to a tolerable level for $200 or so, I guess that's not terrible.

I just received 4 speak easy & I have ceramic packing everything just over $100 for the Quadzilla. Will let you know how it turns out. I just want to tone it down a little and get rid of the raspy sound at higher revs

I tried contacting UFO about a different baffle core a week or two ago. I sent an email thru the website. I haven't received a response yet. If you find something out please let us know

I don't think anyone monitors their website form. I've attempted contact through it twice (maybe 3 times?) with no response. I called two days ago and left a voicemail, and never got a call back. Their website says they've got a 15% off sale until the end of October, but it doesn't do any good if you can't get ahold of them. I'll call again tomorrow.

That's what I fitted in my dual slash cuts. With ceramic packing it took out the raspy sound and lowered the volume a bit. Still pretty loud though!

I called UFO and spoke to Mike about the 1.5" silent-but-deadly end caps and installing smaller baffles in the mufflers to help make them quieter. He said if I bought the SBD end caps and shipped him my mufflers, he'd install smaller-diameter baffles to go along with the 1.5" caps. The cost for the smaller-diameter baffles is $20 per muffler, which basically covers his costs for materials. That seems like a steal to me, especially considering that the work is being done by somebody who is intimately familiar with these mufflers, so I sent mine off to have them reworked.. He said this offer is open to anyone, so I'm sharing it here.

Here's the link to the end caps, which are $65 each:

There's also a "Cyber Monday" 20% off sale going until the end of this week, which mostly much makes up for the $20 per muffler cost to mod them.

On a side note, I sent a couple of messages via the form on the website but never got a reply, and left a voicemail about a month ago and didn't get a reply to that either, so if you call and don't get through the first time, don't be shy about trying again. I did get a reply to my online order within minutes of placing it, though, so no worries about your order being lost or anything like that. Also, I've got Mike's email and he has replied to every one of my emails very promptly (like within a few minutes). I won't post his email address on the forum (don't want it to get harvested by spam bots) but if you PM me, I'll pass it along.

I got the modified mufflers back from UFO about two weeks ago and got a chance to ride the bike last week and yesterday. The transformation is a huge improvement--the bike still sounds aggressive, but the sound level is much more tolerable. If you've got the UFO megaphone style mufflers and they're too loud for you, then this fix is a no-brainier. Highly recommended!

This is what I made for my Quadzilla exhaust:

I then wrapped the new cores using the Moose off-road muffler packing kit. It's a 3-layer system that lasts in my race KTM 450.

I couldn't be happier. You can stand with the bike idling and have a normal conversation. It screams when rapped up but now you have a choice. UFO should sell these. Here's a video:

I order a meaphone from Mike at UFO and two end caps. the 1.5" and 2". Haven't put it on due to my old slash is stuck on the collection pipe still and my shed has no heat.. So not in a big hurry. I feel the pain, nobody like riding behind me either. Going thru tunnels was way LOUD, cars would back off close to 1/8 mile...lol:rofl_200:
