Why can't you have someone in the USA buy the shocks, and ship 'em to you w/o that mark-up?
Here is another alternative, yes, $$$:

Less-expensive YSS shocks for Gen. 1:

All-black, and less-expensive, gas-charged, same manufacturer:

They offer a variety of anodized/powdercoated colors to fit your bike.
This appears to be the least-expensive set, so if you can live with the appearance it's the cheapest:

You need to contact them, as the way the site is set-up, the price appears to be for
one shock-absorber so the price is double what is shown for a particular shock. They do offer a 2 year warranty. Listed at $255 which seems to be an 'apiece' price so a pair is $510. Tell me if I'm wrong if you check, and find otherwise.
Here are some less-expensive, rebuildable Ohlins from Dennis Kirk, a dealer I've bought-from many times:

If you use the 'check fitment' tool, it says these Ohlins do-not fit a Gen. I, I dunno why, it appears the length is OEM, and there are several sleeves to ensure fitment for different dia; fasteners. It might be worth a try to see if they work.
One pair, so no questions about that! $699/free shipping
Progressive Suspension 412 13" o.c. shocks, standard, non-rebuildable, no damping adjustment, considered an OEM replacement alternative. I have a pair of these, and they have performed adequately. There are choices in spring rates. $345/pair
