What about tapping into the hi-beam wire so the running lights come on when you go to hi-beam, would that work?

Altho...like Redbone said, going to dim would be kind of a shocker! :confused2:

I wired mine right into the headlight circuit, but I placed an on/off toggle switch to control when I want them on. This way I dont need to have them on during the daytime and they turn off with the bike so you dont have any power consumption forgetting to turn them off.

hi or low beam?

From what I recall, I wired the red wire to the headlights blue and the black to the black. I usually always keep my headlight on high beam, but let me verify since I dont think it matters if your on high or low beam with this setup.
