That's a good question. Didn't even think about looking for that. Have never seen one come out though. They are staked in extremely well.

Engine is back together and in the bike.
Assembly went pretty smooth.
Cometic head gaskets and 60 ft/lbs of torque in 4 equal increments.
Just have to finish putting her together now.
Lord willing will be done tomorrow.

HUGE THANK YOU TO DAVE!!!!! and my Son.

Things went much smoother and faster with them helping today. :punk:

Nope I didn't see the piston pic until I went back & re-read all the post. I wonder if all the butterfly screws are still in place @ each carb butterfly?

Nope they are all there.

Careful what you say. I might need you to run back out to OC tomorrow, Mon, and pick up a piece of the exhaust. I dont think I got all of them.

She's alive!!!!

Small oil leak on the rear cam tensioner. Should be able to get to that tomorrow when she cools down

Biggest thing is 230*, fan on, holding steady, no coolant coming out!!!:punk::punk::punk::clapping::clapping::clapping::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::eusa_dance::eusa_dance::eusa_dance:

Weirdest thing though.
She has a completely different and I mean completely different exhaust note. More of a POP POP than the rumble she had before.
Only difference was I was able to get the cross tubes to go further together than last time so the cans were able to bolt up on the inside of the frame tabs so now the tips face outwards a little more than they did before.

Oh well she is running and it is good!!!!!!!!!

Great news, Fargo.......Get out there and put some miles on........

awesome fargo. my exhaust note changes over time slightly too.

Oil leak is actually from valve cover gasket.
Took the battery all the way out to access the cam tensioner and it wasnt even the source of the leak.
Oh well that allowed me to fully tighten down the two inner exhaust bolts nice and tight. :eusa_dance:
Cooling down right now then change the coolant one more time and we should be good to go. Just in time for the wedding.

Gonna take some hot pics with bride on the v-max? :biglaugh:

Nope they are all there.

Is your carb setup a stage seven or similar? If so you might check to see if all four of the air-corrector jets are still in place. I have seen one engine that swallowed an air corrector jet from a stage seven kit. Apparently the engine had the typical V-Max cold start-up cough, & blew the air corrector lose right into the carb & swallowed it, he was as lucky it scored up the sleeve pretty bad.
