Neil,The worst thing besides not being able to play your guitar is that you max is nearly completed.Even a stock clutch can be tuff to pull with an injury.Hopefully your therapy gets it back to normal.

One time I saw someone in england offering an auto shifter designed for handicapped riders.Totally automatic up and down shifting.Looked similar to walkers electric shifter. The guy even had one on a vmax. Its been 2 or 3 years since he posted a link on Tylers list.

I also wonder if it would be possible to come up with a solenoid powered hydraulic clutch that ran off of a button.A small 12v powered hydraulic pump,A solenoid to switch it from bypass to clutch disengage and back and a thumb mounted button. The main problem I see with this would be leaving in first with out any feel. You'd have to burn rubber to keep from stalling it.

Interesting idea Shawn :thumbs up:.

Looks like another surgery is unavoidable, since the plate is broken and the bone is healing wrong :damn angry:.

I have full strength in all fingers except my pinky, because, the #5 metacarpal is the damaged bone.

When I get my x-ray copies, they will show why I'm having this problem...lets just say, it was nothing I've done wrong :hmmm:. These are gonna blow your mind!

The screw just above the plate break was put in at a 45 degree angle and putting major stress on the plate in that exact spot. Sergeon said it might be a manufacturer default in the metal, but, I could see in his eyes that he knows the screw has caused this.

Needless to say, my sweep arpeggios, Eddie VH tapping techniques, and Kirk Hammett style solos are suffering badly. Even my 5 string banjo is a chore to play simple 4 step hammer ons :whistlin:

Just letting you know, I have another surgery scheduled this Wednesday :damn angry:

They're going to remove the hardware and evaluate the situation. My ring finger now feels like someone is whacking it with a hammer every second of the day, and it was not involved in the break. Nerve damage is my biggest concern!

A prayer or 2 would be appreciated :worthy:

Peace

Gods neat lets eat...

Consider it done!

Good luck man. I'm sure it's minor. You'll be back to full speed by Spring so you can get that monster out!

The bike Neil...:whistlin::biglaugh:

Neil, my ring finger feels the same way as well... are you sure that pain isn't related to something else?

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I thought I would try to add a little humor in there to help you through. I've got some metal and screws in my right wrist as well, and I'm sure the doctors will get you taken care of. Keep us updated and hope you heal up soon!

Hey Gang....

Thanks for your prayers...it pulled me through!!!!

I'm loopy on Lortab 7.5, but, already can tell my hand has much more motion.

Surgeon said there was some large scar tissue that was causing the pain in my other finger. He tried to clean it up and worked my hand for several minutes while it was opened up after removing the broken hardware.

I'm still going to try to get the x-rays posted after my follow-up visit, so you can see what happened.

Thanks Again :punk:

Great to hear that your hand has some improvement Neil. :punk:

Would be kinda neat to see the X-Rays.

Take care,

Buster...

It already feels 1000% better. Even swollen and all, it has much more flex..I can live with my pinky being 6mm longer than it sould be, if my flex comes back 90%.

I have to wear a half cast until the 26th when they take the stitches out. 30 7.5 lortabs and 1 refill to go.

I'll keep you posted, and try to get my x-rays posted for the oopsie award Chris came up with.

Thanks for asking :punk:

Neil
