buying a prior salvage bike

.. seems like an easy fix (Dynatek, etc ...). I found the proper Dyna 3000 kit for the Vmax at around $260 +/- on Ebay brand new from a dealer. Seems like cheap insurance for these things, que no?

Yes, but they're not the most reliable.

I haven't hear of many issues with the dyna for 90-07 maxes. 85-89 (discontinued) seemed to be the flakey one.

so do guys think the bike is worth $3500? or is everyone saying no more than $3000

Around here, $3500 gets you a nice bike with under 15k miles. No salvage, no known issues etc. I waited for a fixer upper and paid a grand (needed carbs and 2nd gear fix). It came with about $700 in aftermarket parts (OEM sissy bar/luggage rack, sportmax seat) and I swapped on a set of good carbs and it's a runner.
