Thanks for the tips Gary. One question though. When you say remove a plug wire, can I do that with the engine running and just leave it hang with no plug in the boot? I have always heard it was bad to unlug the wire and leave it hang unless you have a spark plug in the end and the plug is grounded to the bike. I have no reasoning behind this thought other than I have hear it somewhere?
I usually put some dielectric grease (silicone) on my plug boots so I can pull them off easy and it keeps moisture out of electric connections. Never had a problem with anything pulling them off running but there's probably good reason to do it while the engines not running. Don't know what it is... other than you stand less of a chance of being zapped. A handy tool to have in your box is a set of plug boot pliers. Mine are made out of nylon so I just hold onto the wire and boot for a very short time and never let it hang. There's a lot of them to choose from and their relatively cheap. If you buy a set remember there's not a whole lot of room down there. So pick a set built like needle nose pliers. Here's an ebay link: Pliers
