Well, I decided that there was hope for my carbs after all. I started reading every thing I could on them..."know your enemy" Now I can pin point the problem area's. #1...I am lean at 1.5 to 2k till the motor is at optimum warm temp. An artical by Maleko89 says "paj2 is dirty or needs to go "SMALLER"...is this correct? #2... I think my front float is set lean....thats the carb that has the hic-ups and a white plug...."is this thinking on the right track?

So ,..the bike was running worse than ever last night..ARG! so I took out the lean/rich mixture screws and the air box,...I shot carb cleaner into the holes and then hit them with 120lbs of air,...top and bottom ,back and forth........result...runs alot smoother,...surging is 90% gone when motor is warm. SOOO, I think I will pull them off and go through them using all the information on this sight and pay "close attention to detail" I think I can beat this thing. NOW,..where is the best place to get an overall carb kit that supplies what I need ?

There are no carb kits worth talking about for this bike. Stay clear of anything from fleaBay - it's total *****.

Your best bet is to tear into them first, make a list of what you really need, then order from Sean Morley. I know it takes riding time away, but it's still the best/cheapest way to go.

Check out my carb rebuild threads in the carb/tuning sub-forum, it shows everything in detail and hopefully should make your life easier.

Thank you for the fleaBay tip...and I will contact sean for the bits and pieces. Its great to talk to people that have been down this road before. It makes life sooo much easier.

I will give you some quick back ground on my "carb history".....For the last 15+ years or so, Ihave been working on harleys. Heres the problem you face.......You got a motor running on a single crank pin....."1" carb that has to feed 2 cylinders that are never the same temperature, .. and the front jug pulls harder than the rear, with bothe cylinders firing at the same time!! Now add to that "horrible reverssion problems"...common to all harleys.......and you have a motor thats next to impossible to fine tune! I spent way to many nights in the shop ,trying differnt carbs, jets, needles ect....It left me with a real sour taste for working on carbs....'SEEMED THATS ALL I EVER DONE. The vmax looks like it actually has hope,..there is light at the end of the tunnel. So I will bravely rip e'm off and do my magic.

thanks for the vote of confidence Raging......I clicked on your link to U-tube,..but it has been removed "in vilolation"bla bla bla
what was it about ?

It was just a Rammstein video.
Will have to find something else.
Thanks for the update.
