Carbon Version

Hi All,

I’ve recently bought my 1st V-Max and it’s a 2000 Carbon version. Love the bike but the finish of the ‘carbon’ is a bit faded to say the least and the rear fender is scuffed where a tail pack or tool roll has been.

Any ideas how to revive this finish. I don’t really want to spray paint it but it lets the rest of the bike down.

Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect the carbon effect is applied by a Hydro Coat process and then lacquered.

If it is the lacquer that is causing the issue then perhaps cutting back may help.

If it is the carbon effect that has faded or is damaged then there is probably nothing you can do.

Vinyl wrap is an option too. To look right all the parts would need to be recovered.

I've tried vinyl wrap and (IMHO) not a patch on a Hydro Coat jobbie but then you pays yer money and makes your choice.

I THINK I still have this super nice Carbon set available if you're interested. $500 including postage. Possibly the nicest set available short of new (which I don't know that these are even available new anymore).
