I noticed the choke linkage rod that runs from carb #2 to carb #3 was hanging down the other day. Upon inspection I see that the e clip that retains the rod on the bracket on carb #3 is missing, it is still connected on the other end on cylinder #2

I don't see any breakdown of this linkage hardware on the fische. I went to the local hardware that has all things weird and the smallest E-clip I could find was 4mm. Too big for this application.

Anyone know what size the E-clip should be? Also, is there supposed to be a washer behind the E-clip. As stated, I could not see any of this on the fische.

as i dont know the size maybe a trip to a local bike or sled shop and you can find the eclip you need. as for orientation of stuff, i just rebuilt mine and have it wrapped up, ill go look or faster would be drop dannymax or sean a line, they will be able to tell ya right away

Damn, if that e-clip is missing you may want to make sure your carb chains are still working!!! They directly attach to that linkage, in a round about way :rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

I have problems handling the small E clips with my arthritis and I replaced that E clip with a small hitch pin and it works great and can be removed and installed with the carbs on the bike.

think thats the teflon one, ive dropped that before, hard bugger to find

Mike, I'll send you one tomorrow morning.....I got some extras from the auto parts, it's a tinch (split red one) tight but will work.

Thanks Dan. I appreciate it but I am gonna see if my supplier has some stainless ones. Im in no hurry. The bike is still in pieces. If I come up with some maybe you'd like a few for the BRC project?

What's your take on the washer? I see a couple guys say there is one. One saying there is not. I know there is a nylon one on the throttle linkage but don't remember seeing a washer on the choke rod under the E-clip, just a bushing....

Some extra e-clips would be great Mike, I will help with the purchase price.

There is no washer inboard of the clips on the choke rod. The bushing design eliminates the need for one.

The throttle linkage is designed differently and a neoprene washer is req'd. at the pivot points.

I've got the same issue with the shift pedal snap ring. Can't find 12 mm anywhere local. 7/16 is a little big and pops right off along with the chrome washer I bought-Doh. I have used SAE on the carb link with sucess Mike. It's a too tight fit but works in a pinch. But, I'd rather have the correct size. I'm going to look for a metric eclip snapring set. Be a pisser if Harbor Freight sells one.

hf seems to be re-vamping their line of stuff now. carry a whole box of metric bolts n stuff. wouldn't want to use them on say rotor bolts, but some e-clips might be just the trick

sounds about right, i must be thinking of the throttle linkage between the two sides, it has a washer and eclip. my sets all wrapped up so cant look at it but id take dannys word, think he dreams about the reassembly procedure. i heard he won the fastest dissemble and reassemble challenge last year, kind a like the fastest pit stop challenge in nascar, must be the nos in his blood :rofl_200::rofl_200:

If you have any extra sets of slide needles around the e-clip that comes with them also fits the choke linkage, I resorted to this when I lost one of mine.

Finally got around to ordering some of these. I found some metric ones in stainless. I bought a couple sizes. Hopefully one will fit.
