So I had to make due with the trash Chinese generic carb rebuild parts while waiting on Yamaha. This means my carbs had some lame #$$ jet block plugs in there. And this means carb issues.

So if you think you can't afford 8 jetblock plugs from Yamaha, just be prepared for a loss of combustion on random cylinders. Your bike will run like a 650lb Yamaha 650cc pig. You'll think it's an electrical problem. And if you don't do your own carb work, you'll wish you had spent the $100 on plugs and o-rings instead of the $500-$1k to have someone else tell you to.... not...use...Chinese...junk...generic...carb...kits...🤣

Yeah... that little jet block plug shouldn't be swimming in the float bowl... the Yamaha plugs actually....work.

Covered ad nauseum before but also, don't let anyone else put junk parts in your carbs, either!

i literally just dealt with the cheap chinese carb kit blues. it looks like the mechanic may have installed those plugs backwards. i put the one that sticks out on the far left side and the one that doesnt in the middle. they seem nice and tight. otherwise they would fit way too loose. so not only did you give the mechanic shit parts but the mechanic wasnt all that bright either. if i recall its pretty obvous they wouldnt fit the otherway for me..

It is true. I had a Chinese gasket (jet block) dissolve partially in less than 2 months. Buyer beware
i noticed the gasket was a little funny looking when i pulled the carbs back apart. and that was only days or so. shiet....

For anyone else out there who may be about to try and tackle a vmax carb problem.... maybe this will help. I stitched together some stuff here to get it all on the same picture. Together, here are the part numbers as well as the diagram showing where these critical plugs go. It's obvious where the plugs go if you have the OEM parts. If you have generic Chinese parts, send them back or throw them away.

....and if you don't want to repeat the process every 3 months all year long, drain those float bowls if the bike is gonna sit longer than a few weeks, and don't use fuel with ethanol in it!
