Clean/Repair fork oil seals

One of my forks is leaking on my '05. How in the heck do you get the dust seal to slide up? Do I need to remove the fork guard somehow? Help is appreciated!

I pry them up with a wide blade pocket knife. They just slide up.

I haven't had to try the removal of the fork guard, but something like a 90 degree pick should allow you to carefully insert the pick, and lift up at 120 degrees apart, to unseat the dust seal, tool between the downtube and the rubber seal lip.
