Thanks Chris, soda blasting caught my eye a few years ago while watching a sub contractor do a boat bottom. I noticed how clean and smooth the metal parts came out. The mess was very managable too.

:confused2: I had a set of carbs cleaned this way and they did not look much different when they came back, so I don't think this method works like shown in the pictures. The guy did give me my money back, but I was out shipping both ways. Good Luck, Spur

I'm sure that results can differ depending on the severity of the carbs when sent in and the material used in the making of the carbs.

This way you're only out a little bit of coin for trying it.

The max carbs have never been shiny or very bright. They seem to be more of a graphite color IMO.

I tried it for grins and could not duplicate the results. Keep in mind that the carbs have a cadmium plated finish (and other) applied to it from the factory. If you use too harsh a chemical or too hard with the abrasive it will attack that finish and remove it. You may have seen some carbs that have a milky appearance when they are done. That was due to the wrong or too harsh a chemical when cleaning (usually most chem dips will do this to them).

I know for a fact this exact same rig for soda blasting can be used to syphoning a tank of gas in a red hot hurry. Emptied a 5 gallon tank in under a minute with a piece of hose and a air nozzle stabbed in it.

Boil for 20 mins in lemon juice, will clean everything:eusa_dance:
