thanks for all the feedback guy's. I think I will stick with the stock size in the front and a 170 in the rear. i have no worries of squaring off a tire I do not drag race my bike..legaly lol and am always in the twisties. :biglaugh:

yea i went for a 120 up front for no other reason than i think it 'fills' out the forks and fender better, and i like the look

I went with the 110 90 18 front and the 170 80 15 rear. I am a drag racer at heart and love the bigger rear tire skinny front look.

Hey Stang, I'm with you on the skinny front/fat back look. I think I'm going to go back to the 110 when it's time.

Hope you love your new Shinkos Bro.

Is there any issues with the fit or handling aspect with having a 120/90 shinko on the front. does it feel and ride different than the 110/90?
Chris

I remember some people saying it got very close to the fender, so much so that some had to mod.
Also, the fatter the front tire, the slower the turn-in, but then again, does that really matter on THE straight line bike?

i dont do any knee scrapers so that should not be a problem and it must not be to bad everyone with a 3.5 front wheel always use 120's.
Chris

I guess from what i read bikebandit has the best prices on the shinkos shipped is this right?
Chris

Hey there Chris,

I'm running the 120 Shinko up front and have no fitment issues whatsoever.

You mentioned you don't, but if you decide to drag the knee or bike parts, I do so with mine without problems there either.

Is there a discernable difference in handling between the 110 and 120? It's been quite awhile since I had a the 110 on there so any change in handling has faded from memory. At first it may make the bike feel a little 'heavier' but I'm not sure how much you use your body to steer vs just using the bar? I've found if you lean this bike, the f'er will definitely turn. :)

I'm not sure between BikeBandit and Motorcycle-Superstore who's cheapest so check them both out. They both offer nice pricing for them.

Hope this helps!

L8r Bro.

thanks for the input 44 i dont ride it a whole lot and now the 09' is in the stable i think the 06' will be treated like a ******* step child!! least it will keep the milage low!!

I have about 100 miles with both shinkos on (110 front/ 170 rear). So far it runs smooth and tracks well but still too much sand and salt on roads try the twisty's with any confidence.
I've had the rear on for over 2k miles and it works great. The rounder profile/ stickier compound gives a smoother turn in and confidence in the corner. It is forming a flat top on it but haven't really been able so far this year to tell if that is affecting the turn in.
So far my experiance with the shinkos have been very good.

i just ordered a set a 170 and a 120 from motorcycle superstore for $128 that includes free shipping and a $5 coupon not a bad deal for 2 tires.

You're gonna be happy with them. I echo the posters that found no problem at all fitting them. Lots of room in the rear, with no washer swap, and front fender fits perfectly.

This is a great forum, with very helpful and friendly members. I have to put the Shinko tire suggestion right up there with the updated R/R unit as far as the most helpful things I've learned here.
