Has anyone purchased these wheels from cycle One-off, and if so what's your opinion (link below)? Apparently they can be used with the stock vmax swingarm and will fit up to 190 tyre which sounds a lot cheaper then buying the braced and notched swingarm, then going out and buying a wheel... :ummm:

I've not seen one in person but expect they will be well made. BUT, if it's not needing a notch to fit with a 190 then the only way that can work is if the offset is farther to the right and even more off-center then other wheels. So, yes it would be cheaper but understand fully what you are getting.

I don't think I would worry about it much myself but it will make the bike harder to turn one way and super easy the other. I've ridden plenty done that way (and far worse then their offset looks like).

He does a really nice job on those wheels. I've seen a set on a local vmax up here. I'm not a fan of the 17" look but I have to say I was impressed with his setup! :punk: Try contacting "vitek". He's on this board. I'm sure he'll give you all the info you'll need to make an informed decision.

Hulign on this list ordered one yesterday. He had a Suzuki 17 incher he bought from Ebay but the shop that tried to install the new tire ruined it.

My wheel is centered and there's no off set with a 180s and you can squeeze 190s in with the the washer swap. A 200s you will have to notch your swing-arm. btw what's with the thumbs down?:confused2:

I was looking on the site the other day it looks nice, do you have a matching front in standard size?

I bought a used COO 17" rear wheel off of ebay as well as a matching Thundercat YZF-600R front wheel. The COO wheel is centered, but I would imagine it may depend on the brand of 190 series tire you chose as to whether it will fit or not. I am happy with the front and rear 17's, but am looking to go to a Pilot Road 2 190/55 rear when my 180/55 wears out. I have decided that I will probably go with a notched and braced swingarm to keep the wheel centered.

Your bike looks great but you have to lower that front fender! Makes the bike look like a Supermoto!

Thanks, and I agree completely, I just try not to look at it for now. I haven't really figured out how I want to go about it yet, to just get some spacers and lower the fender itself or try to lower the entire fender/bracket assembly.

You can take a side grinder and take a 1/8" or more off the side corner of the whole circumference of the tire .I have been doing it for years ,i run 190s with my chain drive and like to get a little more clearance fron chain and tire side and grind down 1/8 off it. tHERE IS ALOT OF RUBBER AT THAT PoiNT BUT MAN IT MAKES ALOT OF SMOKE WHILE DOING IT RUBBER FLYIN.

Does the 17" wheel effect petrol (gas for the Americans) consumption, and speeds etc?

Yes, with the 17" wheel and 180/55 tire, when I am running at 60 mph, I am just under 4K rpm. That is my reason for wanting to go to a 190/55 when it's time to get a new rear tire. The 190/55 will get me closer to the stock wheel/tire combination diameter.

These numbers are probably not exact, I just used the calculator on this site.

http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/tirediamcalc.html

Stock rear wheel/tire height = 25.67"

180/55-17 height = 24.80"

190/55-17 height = 25.23"

Is there even a 190/55 available? Usually it's a 190/50 which isn't taller.

Yep, Michelin pilot power 2 c t 190 / 55 zr 17 ( and your jet hot coated Kerker pipe )

Speaking of the Pilot Power 2CT's, how do they hold up on the Max? I was thinking about trying a set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's. I had them on my sportbike and loved them, but figured the Max would chew them up fairly quickly since it weighs quite a bit more and they are softer than a sport touring tire. That is why I was going with the Pilot Road 2 tires, but if the Pilot Powers wear well, I'll probably go with the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's. I also believe they are a bit narrower than the Pilots so they may be easier to squeeze in the swingarm.

Only 500 miles on 'em to date , so it's a little too early to forecast , but I like the way they handle so far. I'm also running a notched & braced swing arm. I heard the Diablos are great but don't last very long. Note: Pilot Powers 180 / 55 17s ( not the 2 c t ) are on sale at my local GA. dealer for $ 200 a set !
