195 psig last compression test, so yes tolerances are on the tight side for the pistons.

I'm thinking thats going to be the nature of the beast for a while. High compression with some tight assembly tolerances are going to bring the heat.

He has a great battery that blows my oddesey away..I have 12 to 1 compression and it turns that sucker over easy.....He has oversized radiators that fits right in the max...Got the great fan and fan switch..He got some other stuff as well....
I went right to their speed shop and picked all my stuff up...Him and his wife are the coolest people..He has alot of knowledge and has been in the bikes for 25yrs like myself...Tell him vinny sent you he will take good care of you..
 
I took a look at your custom rad pic this afternoon.

My one suggestion would be to get that perforated plate off the front of the radiator if you can. You are probably cutting the airflow by a factor of 40 to 60% by using it. It looks nice but from an airflow and cooling standpoint, you might as well use the stock radiator.

Take a look at this link. It looks pretty close (by calibrated eye) to what you have, and has only 40% open area.

You can calculate the actual open area you have in your plate by the following formula.

Thats a good call. I was wondering the same thing so I put in a call to the guys who made it, Ron Davis Radiators.
They said as long as 1/3-1/2 of the core area is open to air flow it performs to design specs.
If it is too bad I can always pull it off.
 
As a test, just pull off the cover for awhile and see if your cooling issues improve.

Unless you are going to use something like this airflow straightener, anything that you put in front of the radiator fins will reduce the airflow.
Figure out if your new radiator is up to the task before choking it down with some kind of grating or mesh.

Lets not put the cart before the horse. I had the custom radiator built because of cooling problems. I havent even had a chance to try it out yet. May not even be a problem with the current configuration. Been waiting on the improved bigger fan I ordered. Supposed to be in today
I have a test ride scheduled for Friday

Was doing a coolant flush and just for ***** and grins wanted to see what temp the cap would pop. Filled up the overflow bottle all the way and unpluged the fan, and ran up the idle.
As soon as the idle got high, before the temp even got over 190 coolant started flowing out of the overflow tube.

So this whole time running around town I have been losing coolant and didnt even know it hence why it would just get hotter and hotter. Hotter it got more coolant it would lose.

On the bright side with a proper cap, bigger fan and a bigger radiator my bike should run super cool from now on.

You better not run TOO COOL which is also bad.
 
Ok so now I have the same delima with a different cap
Doesnt pop so soon but it did pass some fluid right at 210*

I know the resevoir has the full mark about in the middle so if it does pass some coolant it wont overflow right away but....

I am under the impression it wasnt supposed to pass any coolant until it reached it pressure set point????? :ummm::ummm:

Any help would be appreciated.
Plus anyone with an actual temp gauge or a laser temp gun could help out.

Fill your coolant resevoir to the top, run the bike on high idle and see if you get any coolant passing before 240*
I would appreciate it.

Radiator cap opening pressure 10.7-14.9 lbs. If I remember right your boiling point raises 2 degrees for every Lb. of pressure.

Well close, 3 degrees for every pound.
So should be little over 240 for the lowest and as high as 257

Can anyone tries theirs out for me and see what happens???
Maybe I just have 2 bad caps
