extra air filters makes any difference?

I want to remove those 4 chrome round caps on the sides of a bike and attach there round external air filters ( sometimes one can see such on harleys). Does it make any difference on riding/starting/ fuel economy? Or just cosmetic thing?

Those four round caps are actually the "tops" of the carburetors. You can get decorative velocity stacks but they're not functional.

The airbox and filter resides under the faux lid where a gas tank would normally reside on most motorcycles.

Not only doesn't make sense but it can't be done....they aren't air intakes.
