Found some old bike pictures....

Old oil boiler 1992 GSXR 750. I ran this bike for awhile. I loved it. Reliable, fast, handled well for what it was. Simple yet effective. Gave my Vmax fits! The fastest I ran on this bike was 10.80's. It was hard to drag race. I needed to go up in sprocket so I could alleviate the bog out of the hole. It ran awesome. I sold it and my 86 Vmax to buy a machine for my shop. I had that bike for about 4-5 years I think.

My 1982 Honda Magna V45 750. This was another ultra reliable bike. I wish I kept this one ( I wish I kept them all actually ). This bike would take you anywhere without a problem. It wasn't the fastest thing, but it had plenty of power to move you out.

My 1986 last year of the VF1000R. I believe they imported 2500 of them to the states. I did a full cbr suspesion upgrade with wheels and forks shocks etc. Machined the hub for the VFR to fit the CBR wheels. It was a beast of a bike. I never got it to the track but once and I couldnt get it to lay down good numbers. I think the best I ran was 11.70's with it. After I put the CBR stuff on it and gave it some sprockets it wouldy easily walk away from my 86 Vmax from a 40 roll like it was dragging the Vmax behind it. Kinda like me racing Vmax Mike.

I ll try and find some other oldie pictures of the other bikes I owned.

Here is some of my son in his first early seasons of drag racing when he was around 8-9 years old I believe.

Then some dirt riding on the same bike. This was a XR70 chassis with a home built 120 cc 4spd clutch motor in it. I ported the head and had a crane cam, ignition system and pipe etc. Other goodies as well. I ll have to see if I can find time slides, but I know he was running 80+ mph in a 1/4 mile, I thought in the 16's. I am not 100% sure though.

Love the old school pics. My buddy had the same year/color gixxer. I had an 86 750 (blue and white). Wish i still had that bike. Ironic though, the only street race I ever lost on that slabby was to a Vmax. I guess that is why I have always respected Mr. Max. Now I have my very own...

Nice looking bikes. Very nice magna! Never rode a V45 but for long tripe my V65 is more comfortable than my Vmax. Almost everyone has that one vehicle they wish they would have kept. I still have my first pickup. Told my wife before we got married that I will NEVER sell that pickup no matter what. 5 years ago the cam went flat on the second motor in it. It now has a 4 link and a 540 with T56 tranny. Waiting in the new paint so I can drive it again.

The V30 Magna I used to have was one of the most comfortable bikes I ever rode. The suspension and seat was like sitting on a cloud. It was also "ultra reliable", as in it was 25 years old and everything still worked perfectly. Great little bike. For only 500cc it was pretty quick, it would do about 115 if given some room.

Here is a really old one of me in 1968. A desert race of about 48 miles. Was working part time at Sun City Yamaha in El Paso. Raced out of the shop. That is a 68 Yamaha DT-1, the first dedicated Japanese dirt bike. Was a beautiful Metallic Pearl White. Really hated getting it messed up. There was a line signed up to buy the bike and I had to wait till they caught up with demand. The guy standing in front of me is Jim Dunlap, the manager of the shop and an ex motorcycle cop. Great guy.

How do you like our racing gear? Jeans, sweatshirt, linesman's boots with shaved heels so they wouldn't catch on something and jerk your leg back, and handball gloves. No dedicated gear in those days. You were really beat up at the end of a race, especially the long ones.

Kids hung around like I did at their age... :biglaugh:
