I am looking at a Holley in line fuel pump for my gen 1 . It puts out 3,5 psi , is that enough? and has anyone tried this? if you have what was the results? thanks in advance. Wayne
My friend's shop has replaced the OEM fuel pump with an in-line pump with no issues. You want something low-pressure so the needle valve will seat properly. Too-much pressure will not allow the proper fuel regulation as the fuel flow won't be able to seat against the excess fuel delivery, and the carbs will pee-out the overflow tubes.
Stock pump is much more then adequate and about any pump you buy aftermarket (low pressure) will still be probably 10 times more fuel capacity then you will consume. Keep in mind that virtually all off brand pumps do not have the internally pressure regulated pump so they can keep running (which can heat up fuel and actually cause power loss). But, they are all way cheaper then a stock one!
thanks to you all for sharing that. Now I can decide what to do with confidence. I see that reliability is a most important factor. GOD bless and Happy New Year Wayne
