With Christmas coming around I started looking at helmet cams. Their cool and totally unnecessary. Anyway ran across this video. Anyone recognize this VMAX guy? He's needing some more power :biglaugh: Wonder if they put him in the oncoming lane on purpose.

HELMET CAM

Seems loke he got his *** handed to him a few to many times from dead starts. :punk:

Now he's a "rolling start" kind of guy...

I have thought about a helmet cam a few times. My digital camera takes HD film which is amazing quality, but most of the helmet cam vids on youtube don't look that great.

I did find this one though..$300 http://www.vholdr.com/

I am interested in a helm cam.

Contour HD is 350 Canadian at the only retail shop...

Cheaper on the fleabay

I did a search and came up with a couple different camera units:

GoPro HD Hero - vids look good but camera may a tad bulky for a helmet at over 100 mph, probably work well on a bike mount.

VHoldR
- Small tube type camera so would work as helmet cam.

Camera Mounts:

$5 camera mount - A how to make a mount so you can use your digital camera for a really cheap setup.

Ram mounts - very functional mounts in every shape imaginable.

Handlebar mount - Not sure about the website name but the handlebar setup looks nice but not height adjustable.

You can score the ATC-1000 cam for under $80, all mounts included.

Or the upgraded ATC-3000 for under $140, everything included.

Or if you want an LCD screen to preview, there is the ATC-5000 for under $220 for everything.

The ACT-1000, like I have is water and splash resistant, I've been in driving rain with it and have had no problems. I've even dropped it quite a few times and no damage.

The ATC-3000, 4000, and 5000 have a higher FPS and are all water proof to 10 feet and like the 1000 are shock resistant. All of them are lightweight and self contained, saving the video or stills on a SD card.

I have a write-up on the ATC-1000 here somewhere. For some more videos just search ATC-(camera number) on youtube. there are 100's

Go for the HERO powersports camera. Really compact and durable. It can mount pretty much anywhere...helmet, hood of a car, back of a boat, ect. Prices seem to vary widely depending on where you look so shop around. Saw a package with the camera plus a couple different mounts at a snowmobile show for $150.

I use an archos 504 with a bullet cam, but if I get another it'll be the waterproof ATC-5000 I think

That's cool I was looking at this guy here Helmet Cam I like the idea of having the recorder separate makes the camera small. You can adapt this to an exsisting camera if your lucky enough to have purchased the right one in the first place. A bit pricy

The more I see of the videos. I'm not sure if I want to mount it on my helmet. Like that chest mount deal. I'm wondering if it might be a better idea to just buy a waterproof camera (it has an image stabilizer) like this one CANON and mount it on the bars or use the chest mount. Price isn't bad and 12.1 mega-pixels. Check out the video record time. Price AMAZON
