Was driving around during lunch and discovered Galfer's warehouse here in Oxnard, CA - very close to where I work. Stopped in for a chat then I checked their website and found a back story:

"...Galfer Brakes was founded by Maffio Milesi in Barcelona, Spain, in 1946 as a brake pad supplier for major European motorcycle and auto makers. For the most part, Galfer was unknown in the United States until 1992 when Giorgio Milesi – one of Maffio Milesi’s three sons – moved to Santa Barbara, California with his son Sandro to open Galfer USA. Sixteen years and two locations later, Galfer USA resides in a 12,000 square-foot warehouse in Oxnard, California, and services North and South America, Australia and the Far East. Although all Galfer brake pads are still made in our Barcelona factory, Galfer USA is at the forefront of brake technology. All Galfer stainless steel brake lines are made in the same building as our sales, management and design teams. And many of Galfer’s rotors are now made right here in Southern California..."

The guy said I could buy right from the showroom (I'll need to double check this) so I may have them make up some custom brake lines if/when I run clip on bars. Pads and maybe some wave rotors down the line... too bad their web catalog only shows fixed rotors for Gen 1 Vmax.

Off of hwy 101 and oxnard blvd if I remember right.
I used to go to the mikuni shop in the san fernando valley on mikuni ave.

Galfer has Wave rotors for the newer Gen 1 Vmax front brakes are floating wave rotors: (DF488)
http://www.galferusa.com/brake-rotors-for-street-sport-racing-motorcycles/
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/galfer-wave-rotors-df459

The Galfer rear Vmax (and older front) rotors are fixed rotors though: (DF459)
http://www.sportbiketrackgear.com/galfer-yamaha-vmax-1200vmx-85-92-rear-wave-brake-rotor/

And both are listed on page 26 in their catalog (page 14 of the pdf file) here:

Thanks DMAN999,

This is interesting. When I use the online Galfer Moto Parts Finder in your first link, it lists "Standard Solid Mount Wave Rotor" for rear (DF459W) application on my 1997, but Revzilla shows the DF459 as a floating rotor!

Maybe just a listing error by Galfer??

Now I need to drop in again to verify!

I am a Galfer dealer and if they adhere to their rules they will likely be more then buying through me lol.

The FLOATING 298mm wave rotor will not clear the fork legs of the 93-07 Vmax's which is why it's not on their catalog (they found out the hard way). The Solid 298mm rotor will clear. The Floating rotor will clear the 85-92 forks when used as an upgrade like we offer for the busa brake upgrades.

Now, we do modify the floating rotors so they will fit (by counterboring the bolt mounting locations like the OEM is). I told Galfer many times over that's all they needed to do but as of yet they haven't done it.

I do have a nice used pair (almost new) of Galfer rotors if you're interested and way to save a little cost. Email me at [email protected]
