exactly why I am thinkin' of leaving again :confused2:

I'll be spending the majority of O'Bama's presidency overseas, so I'm not too worried about it. I'll be home in January, but I'll be back over here in July. That's my schedule for the next few years.

As i said in my thread , the price went up to pay for the war . An ex head of the C.I.A. once wrote in his book "wars make money , we want money we go to war" . This guy is now in hiding and there is a contract on his head . Why else would Bush invade Iraq if they werent the 3rd highest oil producing nation on the planet - and then the price sky rockets . YEAH RIGHT .:bang head::ummm::bang head:

I'll start by saying that I haven't been to Iraq. My war is here in Afghanistan. Having said that, I've never heard a single soldier ever say that we invaded because of oil. Not one. That's because we the soldiers see the atrocities committed by these two peoples. Saddam's regime and the Taliban did commit. I wish the news would report the stories that we see over here day in and day out.

Like the 14yo girl we tried to save after her husband pushed her off a two story roof after an argument. Unfortunately, she died.

Like the hundreds of thousands of locals that we've helped over the years... the clinics we've run, the schools we've built, and the aid we've given. People seem to have forgotten these things.

And the fact that both here and Iraq, we're fighting a two sided war. In Iraq, insurgents, money, weapons and supplies flow in from Syria and Iran. Here in Afghanistan, the same is true from Iran and Pakistan.

My point is this. People seem to say we were after oil, because it's an easy finger to point. If we were after oil, they've hidden that fact from us, the soldiers very well. Forget about oil, forget about weapons of mass destruction, and just look at the good we've done. We've stopped a tyrannical leader, and emplaced a democracy. We've destroyed a system that beheads people as a form of punishment, and given people human rights.

Gas is a commodity and commodity prices can be manipulated if buying groups sink enough money into the oil futures market to manipulate the perception of scarcity or plenty. Having influenced the price point they can also place additional side bets on the possibility of the price going up or down.

The price of a barrel of oil has very little to do with the REAL demands of the economy and more to do with the artificially created perception of future availability. The clever speculators don't need to sink huge amounts of money into the market to influence prices. Starting a rumour (aided and abetted by the MSM), a localised military conflict, or a political spat, can be just as effective (sometimes more effective) at influencing the market prices than spending hard cash.

The speculators win, the oil companies win. Your sons, brothers, fathers, mothers & sisters in the services die to manipulate the markets. War is, and always has been about defending or securing resources between opposing contenders for those resources.

Men do perform noble feats in war but war has never been fought for noble causes. War is fought for the benefit of Kings, Queens, Presidents, Popes and parties but MOSTLY for the profits of the rich who own the corporations who do no service in the military and fight in no wars. These Fortunate Sons sometimes become presidents of powerful countries but more often become presidents of corporations.

The latest crash in the price of oil from almost $200 to < $50 is the REAL economy dramatically slashing demand because of the rapid onset of a global recession as a consequence of the wall street financial meltdown.

Just remember, the speculators make money when the market falls.

Face it folks. Nothing is accidental. This Casino is rigged.

Another reason for gas prices continuing to fall is that the oil stations down in the Gulf that had been knocked offline due to hurricanes this year were brought back up and functional this month. That'll increase production by a good lot and drop the prices even more.

Personally, I enjoy the gas prices coming back down to a more normal level. It was making my life very difficult, as I drove daily to different locations for work. The super-high prices made it impossible for me to do anything but go to work and come home.

It's the damn commodity market. Price is set based on guessing what future brings. Just like price of gold and silver. I just wish the price of groceries would go down like gas has. Petrol is $1.62 a gallon now.

Mark
One of the reasons groceries are still high is because they lag the market due to the fact that stuff has to grow. What I mean is the corn that was grown over the summer is when the gas prices were high, same with the wheat hence why bread is still high. Also the meat that was grown over the last few years also had an average higher fuel cost than the last few months of low fuel prices. Also the corn & wheat that was fed to the meat over the last few years had an average higher cost than current commodity prices. Fuel cost for delivery is a small amount of your overall grocery bill. We will start to see a drop in grocery prices around christmas/new year when we have consumed most of the stuff that was grown over the spring and summer.

Unfortunately you are correct on this matter , the governments dont allow the media to report on such matters . Having been in the middle east about at the time Saddam was captured it was a pretty crazy time for all concerned . But most of the time there is always an agenda , on the front line you see a different story and in the back ground there ia another war going on
