Gen2 footpegs on Gen1, or others?

So I'm looking to change out my driver and passenger footpegs, but all the cool aftermarket ones within my budget are advertised to be Gen2-compatible. My questions:

• Will Gen2-compatible footpegs fit a Gen1?
• What other bikes and their years would their aftermarket pegs fit the Gen1?

Gen 2 will fit but requires modifications (mostly adding bushing and washers to shim it up). Not hard but time consuming.

Not until we get done modifying them and putting it together. I could send all the parts needed but it's almost easier to do it myself.
