My first posting on this forum got no replies (top box givi), so here I go again.
Does anyone have any pics of mounting givi side bags? What I'm looking for is how to adapt this for my stock 85 max. :ummm: My previous post was.....
"naughty g, looks like something I'll be doing in the future. Are those fat max bags you're using. I like the look of them but the $700 price is out of my league. I'm concidering the GIVI E21's but I'm still investigating the mounting problems. do you have any pics of your mounts that might give me some ideas on how to go about fabing something for the GIVI's. this is something I found on a Triumph website."

thanks in advance, Bill

The only company that made Givi mounts for the Max was Five Star in Germany. They quit making them several years ago. I have been trying to find a way to mount Givi bags/trunk to the Max for years. So far unsuccessful. There is one guy in England that makes brackets that allow the Givi "Wing Rack" mounts to be mounted to the Max but they place the bags too high and wide for me.

Hepco & Becker (Germany also) made mounts for their bags and trunk and is a quality product but they no longer show the mounts on their website. They have discontinued them also I suppose. Some one may have old stock though.

Pretty sure naughtyG's are Fat Max bags.

I have actually bought both the items you list a URL for. As I said, I have been working on this for several years. It is possible you could mount the Givi parts to a flat piece of metal and then mount that to the Fat Max mounts. You still couldn't mount the trunk and it would be somewhat "jury-rigged".

If I ever figure out a clean installation, I will post it here.

Yes they are FatMax bags. I bought the bike with them on, and there's actually a picture of my bike - previously named 'MuscleBagger' - on the FatMax website.

Very good bags, totally waterproof, lightweight, durable and a great shape that really blends in IMHO. Only downer is the blinkers are mounted inside, so while they're easy to remove in seconds, you'd have to swap blinkers too.

Yea I like the fatmaxes but with work being so slow (24Hrs/week) I'm just trying to get this setup figured out. being a tool maker by trade I'll probably fab a plate to mount, simular to fatmax and attach the givi hardware to it when "California sport touring" has these items available again. I need to see if a local dealer can order these small parts if nothing else.
the other possibility is to mount the givi N140 or N150 wingracks to the plate. they have some with the turn signals aready mounted to them. but then there goes the budget again......

I think the new Fat Max bags have the signals mounted externally. I have already moved my signals to a bracket on my license plate mount to make room for throw-over soft bags.

On the Givi Wing Racks, keep in mind you have to buy the adapters from the guy in England. That makes the racks and bags stick out very wide. You might want to add up all the costs before your final decision. It may wind up a lot cheaper with the Fat Max bags after you buy the Wing Racks, adapter brackets and Givi bags.

I think the Fat Max bags look better than any of the Givis'. You just have more options with the Givi bags. I had two sets of Givi bags and two trunks for a previous bike. Used the bike specific tubular rack as it fit the bags closer to the bike than the Wing Racks. Was able to "mix and match" to get the capacity needed for any situation.
