Looks like a GL1000 (Goldwing) engine sitting up on it's side. But, whoever guessed the Sunbeam is correct:

Ahhh, confirmation! Couldn't sleep all night trying to figure this one out....see now why it gave me so much trouble, I never even heard of a Sunbeam motorcycle. :ummm:

Nope the bike has already been restored at one time but the guy that has it is not good with checking for loose bolts which you really need to do on these old bikes & the driveshaft came loose & broke & screwed up quite a few things.
