Installed some Galfer SS lines on my '99 a few days ago. After flushing and bleeding with a mighty vac I notice a small amount of water in the bottom of the m/v reservoir, maybe a couple thimble fulls. The bike has 11,500 miles on it, always garaged, never ridden in the rain and only rinsed 3 or 4 times with water. So it has had very little exposure to H2O. How did water get in the front brake system? Has anybody else run across this?

Agreed, brake fluid is anhydrous and absorbs small amounts of moisture. This is why they suggest to flush the system every few years in both cars and trucks (and your clutch system too). If/when you ever switch to synthetic that problem dissapears. I still run dot 3 and dot 4 in my stuff.

The local Yammy shop gave me Maxima DOT 5 silicone supreme brake fluid. Says it will not absorb water so maybe I've already switched to synthetic fluid without knowing it.
Thanks, guys, for the information.
