Looking for the most effective means to damp out the vibrations in my bar.

Since the installation of the solid motor mounts, when I am crusing on the highway the vibration is not uncomfortable....yet (haven't done any long rides)

I have already installed the ISO grips, however I want to take it to the next level.

Has anybody compared a barsnake to lead shot and silicone. How about the Vibranators.
I searched the archives but didn't find any comparison of the above devices.

I also figure that adding a set of bar end weights can't hurt.

I have the Vibranators but not installed yet. Will report as soon as I have them on!

I also have bar ends - carbon look I got for $15 at some accessory stealers.

I have the barsnake and sloid motor mounts and I can run 85 & 90 for 60 miles with my hands going to sleep

I've always used lead buckshot when I needed to reduce vibrations. Just have to be sure there are no potential outlets and also be careful when installing. I always seem to spill some even when trying to be careful. (Don't forget they are installed a few years down the road when replacing grips or bars).

Figure I might as well ask, but why do people install rigid motor mounts? It seems to be a common mod and common grievance at the same time.

i went to academy sports today and they didn't have buck shot loose so i bought 5 pounds worth of copper bb's. I'm going out in a couple of minutes to report back.

THanks,
Sid

ok just got back... best 8 bucks i've spent on this bike. 5 pounds is enough to do 2 bikes. 55mph i couldn't feel any vibrations at all but this is with stock motor mounts. i couldn't feel much vibration # 4k and above but still feel some at 2-3rpm but i can live with that.

I have the solid mounts and also have the lead shot in my bars. Very happy with the results. The lead is also allot cheaper then the bar snake.

Sounds like the lead shot gets the nod. It's not often that the cheapest solution works the best.

I also think that I will install a set of these

Between the two, I hope to get the vibe knocked down to at least the same level as prior to the SMM install.

what size buck shot you guys using, just wondering if that would make a difference.

I'd be interested to know what size shot folks are using as well....After the install of solid mounts, mine also vibrates significantly more. So far I've taken a couple longer rides, and after 20 miles, my hands are asleep.

I was going to pull the trigger on the vibranators, but if something like buckshot will work just as well, and be that much cheaper, I'll try that at first.

I will say though, the bike handles so much better with the solid mounts!

I would think the smaller the shot size the better (better fill factor). Buckshot would probably be on the large size.

Something in the #2 - #6 range would be just about right.

My right hand goes to sleep with the stock motor mounts so I can't imagine what it'd be like with the metal or solid ones.

I'll keep my engine isolated...

I went over to our local Cabela's yesterday, and picked up some #6 shot (it was the smallest they had in 5 pound bags) and filled my bars up full. I can say it does work well enough for me....I didn't have to take my hands off the bars at any point on my ride to work, which is about 35 miles. The box was about $15, so not the cheapest fix, but it isn't bad.

5 pounds of bb's were 8 bucks and enough to do 2 bikes :) copper coated with led.

Oh, I've got plenty left over! This was the cheapest I could find, and this was one of the few places around that I could get any reloading supplies, so it doesn't surprise me that it was more.
