Hey guys. Rebuild is going good. Just have a question . It might be late lol but i am now doing the exhaust system front to back .

I am wondering if anyone knows if the front headers are Side specific?. As in they would only fit 1 way better then the other ?

Or would it not matter which 1 used on which side ? ( as in there identical).

I put the on in the way i thought they might go but it was kinda painfuly lining the manifold bolts and pipe and gasket together

...should this be an easy no brainer that im simply over thinking. Please let me know any info or any help . Thanks

Its a 2001 vmax 1200 with after market exhaust pipes and mufflers ( will include pics) thanks in advance. GreenfieldMad

I have everything just setting there loose as i have to orrder some nuts for the header bolts .

Do you see any markings on them? If you put the header tube section on it's side on the table, is it flat all the way?
 
I don't know if I have seen a set that were not side specific. Usually the spring location for the next section only lines up one way.
 
As another weird example, Hindle Performance exhaust has separate header inlets with spring-attached main header tubes. These tubes are all different, being a 4 - 1 system. The quirky part is the header inlets that bolt to the heads, there are two different lengths of these. It still is a good system but might give one a headache when installing without knowing which inlets to mount where.
 
Hey guys sorry i had to go back to work for a couple days but im off now for a few so ill be looking into it today and let ya know if there is any numbering on the headers ect.

I know its a 4 headers into 2 mufflers .

I also have a question about gaskets would i be able to reuse the gaskets on the heder pipes without issue?

I was told it wasn't easy to get them. N..alot of back n forth

.I did mine off the frame the 1st time. it wasn't easy..wish me luck on the real install..and my system.didnt have mufflers so yea I'm guessing all the way.any info would help me also
 
I just went thru my winter refresh myself.

I think the KERKER 4-1 is probably/arguably the best performer on the market. But it now costs about $1800.

I settled for the Voodoo which is both sided. It was about $600. It is a full exhaust and is pretty free flowing. It looks great, and my friends and brothers love the sound. It is also kinda loud if that is an issue. Not an issue for me and I am 70.

Lowered with progressive, my brothers painted it, Sean Morley seat and chrome, bar end mirrors, drag bar handlebars, painted wheel centers, RWL tires, Danny Unwim reworked my carbs. Maybe more I forget.

Nothing wrong with being loud as long as it matches true performance. Nothing more ridiculous than a machine of any kind that makes a ton of noise and moves like a snail. That reminds me of VW Bugs in the early Eighties, lots of bark and no bite.
 
Lots of elbow grease going into that work! I have a set of those on the shelf.

Looks good. Did you like the progressive springs and could yyoutell A difference. I have to put some new seals in and I've seen them on sale for 85$ or something. Can't a person just loosen two bolts and let shock tubes slide up a couple inches to lower it. I did that accidentally, not sure on handling doing that.
