Help!. New fuel line is not solid line ?!?

Hey i just got a replacement part for the old fuel line im removing ... ghis one apears to be the same looking on the outside . But it is rubber only . No metal line runs the length of the inside like my old one im taking off .

Can anyone tell me why this is ?

The new one is in the second pic / installed .

I'm not familiar with the 'metal line' you mention. Usually a fuel line may have a woven fabric reinforcement between the outer and the inner rubber. I suppose it may be some Canadian equipment issue, like the USA DOT (Dept. of Transportation) regulations for equipment. Are you sure that there's steel in there?

Fire medic thanks for response ill send a better pic see pic below. As u see about 3/4" in from both ends it is metal line inside the rest of the length

I did use a replacement part # from a explosion diagram . But i just thought it was weird tht the new line did not have a solid line inside it.

Does your have one ? Or is it just rubber?

Truthfully I hadn't noticed that on my bikes. Sean Morley is probably the one to answer that, or maybe Captain Kyle. I suppose the purpose of that is to allow a specific bend (bends) for fitment, to prevent a collapse of the lumen (the inner passage, or I.D.) as the hose/rubber tubing takes a circuitous path.

if it's got metal in it how do you 'stretch' it over the fuel tap outlet and then clamp it tight again ?

ps. mine are just rubber hoses

You can see the metal insert ends before the hose does.

I've had a lot of them apart and never seen a metal lined one.

As long as your fuel pressure is correct it is irrelevant what the material is as long as it's holding and meant for the required pressure level and meant for fuel. Oil hoses won't last very long but aircon hoses do. They are a bitch to hook onto fuel connectors though.
