my plan retrospectively is some fat cams,a headers kit,and one of 3 options I argue constantly with myself
A) stop horse assing around with my little carbs and just slap a belt drive super charger on it with a 4 barrel carb and a prop blower stickin outta my fake tank
B)Vgas carbs
C)wait for those fab happy gents to finish the "less $ than your mortgage" fuel injection system
They all have hi/low points to them but Im willing to deal with them but I gotta choose the best one for me before I start saving for it.That will show my plastic fairing friend the tail lights.I mean how BITCHIN would this be???

Wait for the fuel injection. I have been talking with Mark, BoP, quite a bit lately and we are getting close to the first step and in retrospect I think it has been better it has worked out this way.
The first part we are almost done with and out of the way is the ignition mapping. It is going to be a true engine management system that advances and retards spark based on coolant temp, air temp, engine load and on and on and on. It also will not be a wasted spark so our coils will have more dwell time up top to give a bigger fatter spark. This alone will be worth the money. Besides Ma Yamaha and Dyna there is no other alternative for an ignition system and Dyna doesnt even produce the 85-89 models any more :bang head: Plus the ignition mapping is the hardest part. We can get that done on a carburated bike and it wont change once we add the injectors. Once Mark has it up and running, soon, with a base ignition map it will be good to go. I am going to pick one up and take it to my Dyno guy in OC and put it through the paces.

Once that is done then we will work on the injection phase. Trying to do the two at the same time is a nightmare. If you have a problem you wont know if it is the fuel side or the ignition side. This way we go one step at a time.

Ok back to your friend. I literally smoke SS stop light to stop light all day. So.... I have this week off, tell your friend to put up or shut up :biglaugh:

lmao, Ill let him know for sure.I have had my eye on the injection system since I first bought my Max when I saw it on a reverse trike I forget the name of (but still kinda want one,not sure WHY)I knew the system was still relatively experimental and there are so many ways to do it that I figure by the time I can actually afford to save and buy ANY upgrades like this it will be perfected or well on its way to being. It struck me as a much more reliable system as a whole for street use.

Not that the track is not great but its hard to be the fastest guy at the track, but Ill settle for being one of the most feared machines still legal to be on the street ya know?Has anyone tried running an early model Max on a DYNO with EFI that you know of?I would be curious how it did.

I know two people with R6's, one is an '01 and the other an '06. They both say they top out right about 140 on flats. The '06 with fuel injection seems to be a tiny bit quicker off the line but otherwise they are pretty close.

I've lined up with them both for a "highway roll-on" from about 70mph. I drop to 4th, switch t-boost on, and hit it. They must go to second or something and nail it, and it's still pretty close until I have to hit 5th. Off the line, it's the same story as others....I take them up to about 70-75mph and then they're gone, but given enough space I will catch back up....like I said they max out at about 140 and the Max is good for more than that, 'specially with the Venture diff and the Stage 1.

Oh man that is a nice chart. I just save it, emailed it to myself, and printed a hard copy for further study. It even has the all important power to weight ratios.

Thanks so much for posting that.

Yeah, its amazing how close the numbers(0-60 & 0-100) are between the 99 cbr 600 f4, and the Vmax. I always felt (seat of the pants), that the Cbr was much faster.....I guess I need to twist the throttle on the max a little harder!!!. I think that the extra weight the vmax has, makes it decieving....it does not feel like you are moving as quick.

I just raced my buddies 2009 cbr 600 literally yesterday. Went a couple times from a ~20mph punch (starting off, just kind of a mutual lets race attitude and both punched it). I immediately jumped ahead in first and most of second i was ahead too. By the time i shifted to third, he leaped in front of me with ease and then you could tell he had to finally shift into second because his pull slowed. He was still pulling effortlessly though. I've got a 40 shot of nitrous for him next time though, and maybe i'll retune my carbs for the appropriate altitude...

Well, here is my feedback to my thread. My friend owns an 03 R1 and couple of days ago after work at around 1030pm we got on a highway going home... I line up with him at 75, drop on 4th without letting him know and take off. Hell, i didnt do too bad......

I accelerated past 130 and didnt seem to lose by bus lengths... I talked to him after that and he agreed that my vmax has some balls for a cruiser... my is an bone stock 06 with 13K miles. From stop light he schooled me quite good on that liter bike...

I let a squid guy (my friend owns an 07 GSXR 750) who hates cruisers to death (constantly gave me bull about my harley) ride my vmax around a block. After he came back, he literally said "Dude, i respect cruisers now". That just made my day lol, i love VMAX!!!
